Yup. Racist JP Version, Less racist NA version.
It still has issues with the racialized haircut and lips, but at the very least his skin color now matches original EMIYA's skin color which goes a long way towards making it not outright racist (along with the nickname change from Tamamo Cat to Edgemiya).
The lighter skin just looks better, anyway.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeObligatory We need actual african heroes comment.
And... my god, look at his hands! I swear, Edgemiya's design makes more dissapointed with every time I look at it.
x2 Man, I never compared the two designs side-by-side like this, Christ, is the difference stark.
Cross Cultural Kerfuffle is one hell of a thing.
Well, Queen of Sheba is from East Africa. It's there in her profile.
NA Edgemiya looks like a bronze statue.
Check out his abs
Imagine being the one forced to play as Shinji
You impose that upon that one person you don't want visiting your house anymore but you're too polite to tell that to their face.
Fake Richard pretty much looks like what I’d imagine him to be
Was there even any tension fighting him, and why was there a need for fake Richard anyway
They faked out on making the 6th Singularity Jerusalem, but weird shit happened to turn it into Camelot. It could have been to show how sideways things were going.
Wake me up at your own risk."6th Singularity Jerusalem"
What?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Originally it took place during the fourth? Fifth? The crusade with Richard Lionheart in it.
Things quickly went off the rails.
Kind of weird to me to have it anyway but whatever
Man maybe we could have seen Saladin or Nrvnqsr
No, no, it was during the Ninth Crusade. (1273 AD)
Although not made explicit, the reason why that moment in time is critical is because the Mongol Horde was still expanding westwards in the Middle East and, without a strong Mamluk Sultanate to face them, they would have continued on to the Mediterranean and God only knows what would have happened afterwards to North Africa and the Levant.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.It's the Ninth Crusade period who attempt to replicate the stories about Richard Lionheart. Basically the original plan for the Singularity is that the Crusaders have the Grail, led by the fake Richard Lionheart, fighting against the Pharaoh army and go extreme deus vult on everyone. Knight of the Round proceed to murder the shit out of the Crusaders, Ozy steal the Grail, and the Singularity goes off-rail because even if we got the Grail from Ozy already half-way through the story, Lion King's presence make the entire thing unstable nonetheless.
There's no united speculation on who the fake Richard is, but I personally think it's Baldwin IV's piece of shit brother in-law because that's the first thing that comes up when thinking about bloodthirsty Crusader.
I like to think it was Barbarossa and we'd kill him by making him trip into a river, at which point he instantly drowns.

Some bits from the epilogue and afterword that I thought were interesting
Judging from that smile alone, it appeared the relationship between the two sisters was good.
Raising her fingers, she wrapped them around each other. With her two index fingers touching as if kissing, her hands looked like mirrored images.
"Magecraft developed around the concept of twins is like, for example, uniting with your own reflection. In exchange for being perfect in power while working in concert, they must never forget that they each have a dagger at the other's throat. Once you lose sight of that, the mirror breaks."
Luvia spoke quietly.
Was she speaking of the Princesses of Gold and Silver?
Or was she talking about herself and her sister?

lol he knows it’s a retcon
This is fine
Oh yeah Luvia and her sister have a great relationship.
Well, might as well check it out, see if it's easier to understand in written format.
How would the moonrune readers rate this fantranslation?
I would feel a little insulted but then I'd feel relief akin to "Oh thank God. I don't have to touch her"
Wait they made his skin lighter?
