TARDIS, Lab

"I love science! It's so cool!" Kanami cheered as Nancy batted at the button like an curious kitten, "So, whereabouts are the two of you from? And what kind of scientist are you, Labcoat?"

Mason Bridges

The question gave Mason some pause, mostly due to the fact that the question never really...came up. How exactly does one explain his field of research involves a chemical compound that he was fairly certain existed only in his universe? Taking samples from various...entities...and making powers from them?

“...um...technically I’m a chemist...?” He asked with a grin. And then the button was pushed by his assistant and he spun around.

“Ah! Very good! Very good! Okay! We’re actually getting readings this is phenomenal and absolutely exciting! I was a bit hesitant at first to see exactly what I would get by scanning a completely incorporeal entity but look at this, the numbers don’t lie! I just have no idea what I’m looking at!”

Enthusiastic all the way through.

“So Nancy.” Ge said, looking over at her. “What exactly IS a stand, and how is THIS ONE-“ he gestured to Seamstress. “-acting so weird enough for me to warrant experimentation?”

Nancy Weaver

"Well, I..." Nancy hesitated for a moment, not sure of how to explain it. She dipped her head as she thought, and Seamstress seemed to reach out a hand as if to stop her, or comfort her, before Nancy straightened up her posture and started explaining what she knew. "Well, as I've said before, a Stand is an extension of one's fighting spirit, and a part of one's soul. What's done to a Stand reflects onto its User, and what's done to a User reflects onto their Stand. I've noticed that most Stands are called 'it,' unlike their Users..."

"...But that's, like, only for the Stands that can't move independently and talk," she said nervously, shuffling her feet. "If a Stand is sentient, then the Stand is considered the same gender as their User, but that sort of thing is rare. I only know one User with a talking Stand back in Morioh. My friend Kujo-san says that such a thing can be triggered by personal growth, or as an individual quirk of a Stand. So what's happening to Seamstress should be seen as normal, and yet..."

"Seamstress has never talked or done anything that I didn't want it to do, so it wasn't originally able to do that. When a Stand 'evolves' in response to personal growth, there should be a marked change in the Stand's abilities and appearance, yet my Stand hasn't changed at all. Since we're connected—Seamstress is a part of my soul, after all—I get the feeling that it's hiding something from me. Something big and important that it doesn't want me to remember, or know, which is why it's been staying silent and pretending to be a normal Stand all this time!"

"What I'm trying to say is that my Stand might not be a Stand after all!" Nancy declared dramatically. "It used to feel so familiar to me, and now I might as well be split in two. Which is—which is why I felt like an analysis was needed."
