(I'm not even joking, I'm glad they are digging more into the supernatural elements of the DC universe. I just hope that they don't do what the actual comics did and have Nocturna basically rape Kate using hypnosis.)

I didn't think they'd get into the supernatural until next season at the earliest, so.. neat. It's a bit of a hard swerve; I wonder how that'll be addressed.

Technically, she debuted in an episode about something Supernatural what with Elseworlds warping reality and all.

But it's easy to forget that Kate's been at this for nearly a year now, since she's already established herself by the time Ollie and Barry bungled into Gotham.

I don't see why it needs to be addressed? I mean, we know vampires exist in Arrowverse from Flash (Breacher's arch-nemesis is one), thus, we know Nocturna can exist. She attacks some people in Gotham, she draws the attention of Batwoman.

Nothing prior to this has indicated that anyone in Gotham knows they exist, though.

The collapse of the multiverse caused a rash of dobble-gangers. That is not her Beth, it is an "orphan" from an alternate universe. Which, if you think about it, is pretty horrific for that Beth - everyone she ever knew is dead.

... it will probably also be how her dad gets out of prison. Perhaps they cant sell a jury on the truth because the truth is ridiculus as all hell, but if there is a sudden plague of dopplegangers, and they can show he was somewhere else, they have got reasonable doubt right there.

.. actually, this might make Gothams crime problem even worse. How do you convict anyone of anything if a whole bunch of doubles just appeared out of nowhere? You do not just need to prove they did it, you need to prove you have the correct version of that person in custody!

On The Flash they've established that people from different Earths vibrate at different frequencies, and that this can be used to tell if someone's not from this Earth. Whether they'll remember that plot point, last mentioned in its second season, who knows.

Even if they do, its not super helpful, because the initial crime is not likely to be taking place in a context where there is a vibration scanner pointed at the perp. Useful for old crimes, since it means if the crime is precrisis, you know the criminal is from batwomans earth, but..

I thought I read somewhere that Vesper Fairchild was supposed to be gay like her actress. Why's she complaining about "politics in superheroes" after Batwoman reveals she's gay? Or was she just being snarky and I'm thick?

But yeah, it is most likely snark. Vesper also has somewhat of a Fair-Weather Friend vibe, so there's that too.

At any rate, Kate's strategy right now should be to call Flash or Supergirl and have them take Beth somewhere safe and then work with Kate to bring down Alice and turn her over to the GCPD. Then they can figure out how to get Beth back to her world.
