Fire Emblem Heroes

Well my free pull on Chrom's banner and my badge for the seasonal banner ensure I got Altena and Python, respectively. Which means I now have all 4* or lower rarity units.

I had a feeling Tobin and Gray would get a refine together. Honestly surprised it took them this long to give Gray something when he's been the worst non-staff 5* locked unit without a prf/refine for a while now. (besides Blue Olwen, I guess.)

Jagen gets a refine too. I wonder if they'll give him something above average to make up for veteran penalty. At least he's not like Gunther where he's just a worse version of Fredrick

Whatever effect they give Jagen, it's probably going to have to revolve around his huge Res stat, since that's about the only thing he really has going for him. The NY!Selkie Res-based DR% would do wonders for him, but it's extremely unlikely that they'll give him something like that. Especially when Olwen is probably going to be the one getting the big, overpowered refine.

I imagine Gray and Tobin are just going to get prf versions of anti-cavalry and anti-armour weaponry, respectively (not that prf anti-armour isn't inherently useful, due to the constant high-power armour unit spam), with some sort of +3-4-stat combat boost with an oddball trigger condition.

Well, Altina is winning by a landslide.

Pretty unsurprising all things considered.

I still don't think Tobin is bad as people make him out to be. Especially considering what he was meant for.

I mean, Olwen deserves a refine since Nino's is almost strictly better now.

Tobin's not bad, just a niche specialist. I've been an advocate for having him on everyone's AA bench since the whale armour craze really took off. Follow-up shenanigans abilities have made him less useful over time, since easy breaker solutions suddenly make his match-ups worse, but an anti-armour with good Atk and reasonable mixed defenses is certainly worthwhile to have.

Yeah, Olwen's nothing particularly remarkable anymore. Still she's got a good stat line, so she's going to be less interesting to watch, even if she gets something super busted, because IS would have to go to more extremes to salvage Jagen's very unconventional stat line.

I'd be fine with an extra copy of pretty much any unit here, so I'm barely paying attention to what's going on. Decided to hang with Alfonse while I still could, since it's pretty likely Azura will overwhelm him (though surprisingly, Alfonse got strongest on the second hour).

I wanted to support Sothis, specifically Winter Sothis. Then I saw she was going against Altina and decided to go with vanilla Sothis instead. Also debated on whether or not to support Leif, but I thought, if he doesn't destroy Edelgard, Altina probably will.

Fingers crossed she's out before round 2, though.

Hmmmm, Edelgard being paired against Leif, makes me think that the Three Lords's brave outfits will be based on villains. Either that or it's another Arvis reference.

What where the themes of the brave hero's outfits?

I totally want to see the salt if Edelgard makes it to the finals, but in cruel irony it seems either Leif wins or i'm in a team against Edelgard since i'm team Altina.

Brave Heroes are usually dressed as people they respect. CYL 1 and 2 were all about the chosen heroes with outfits inspired by their parents, older siblings, friends or mentors. The one exception was Celica, who used her original Gaiden outfit. CYL 3 was all about royalty. The theme was "all these characters are royals or become royals by the end of the game" so we had Queens Camilla and Micaiah, and King Alm and Marquess Eliwood.

Since CYL 4 is 3H completely, who knows what the theme will be, but it most certainly will reference their own game, not another game in the franchise.

I hope that the Brave is a dark multiverse version of the Three Houses cast or something. Like that one troper suggested.

Would be fitting with the branching paths the game offers.

At least we get more adorable youtube videos of them interacting.

Alm and Celica are just a function of overly retro outfits there, though. The low-hanging fruit for the house lords would be to just have it be them as imagined several years after they've won their route (similar to CYL 3, I guess). Lysithea might be a touch trickier there. An interesting, but very spoilery idea could be post-victory Lysithea where Byleth, Hanneman and/or Linhardt helped her get rid of one of her crests.

One wonders how they would react to each other winning? Would Edelgard and Dimitri make peace with each other? Or would they clash over which Fodlan is better because siblings.

My pet theory is that they'll give them alts based on their budding talents. That would give Claude Axes and Lysithea swords. By process of elimination, Edelgard would be a blue tome (possible a take on Seraphim) and Dimitri either a cavalry archer (with, I dunno, the Tathlum Bow) or a cavalry dagger unit (you know what that would refernce).

Yeah, there's a back and forth going on with those two. Unless they enter same hell at the tail end of the round (which is a possibility) it will be decided by who has the multiplier in the last hour.

• TFW you give Tobin an inheritable weapon right before a prf annoncement◊. At least its unlikely to have HA 4 or QR
• Seems like the Compilelines are themed around certain sets of games. I Ts actyually not surprising since the two example ones had Heroes OC in 1 line and Archanea-era games in another. On that note, if that manual in the middle of the Blades/Stones line is who I think it is then that would chnage my current plans.
• Speaking of which, Are these lines pernament by any chance?

Can't say for certain, but I imagine so. At least, from what we've seen of the design, looks like the ones bought with the Divide Code 1 resource are long-term (thus why the costs are pretty hefty), whereas the Ephemeral ones are the ones that will rotate out. Chances are they'll introduce new lines in the future that use Divine Code 2 that we'll also have to also work toward long-term. Keeping the non-Ephemeral stuff permanent is also a way to provide some good base start-up skills for new players (so that it only takes them a year to get sort of caught up instead of three).

Whew, i don't have to fight Edelgard's team while on Altina's team.
