That's just as rare a find as a 100% one! Better keep that for novelty factor!

More rare, even. There's plenty of things that can boost the floor for IVs (trading, Lucky, weather boost, raids/eggs/tasks), but 0% has nothing assisting it in the same way.

Thought for the day, as I attempt to claw up to Rank 8 from the high 1800s/low 1900s mark:

Energy management is a bullshit game mechanic.

It's the only thing that really gives PvP any sort of depth, though. Not to say it's a good system, but it'd be even worse without.

I'd much rather depth come from deeper movepools and the ability to do more with status moves or that "bond between trainer and pokemon" thing that the series media is always talking about than switching in and out and hoping the other guy has a suboptimal team or picks the wrong time to use their shields.

Remote raiding is now live!

• A box with 3 remote passes for 1 coin is in the shop.
• One remote pass is 100 coins and three are 250 coins.
• Can raid only at gyms visible in your area.
• Inviting friends to raids is not live yet.

Apparently raiding from a remote location decreases the amount of damage your Pokemon does to the raid boss.

Yeah the devs did mention that before and there's a limit to how many remote raiders can be in one raid at a given point. I think remote raiding will be a permanent feature and the reduced damage will be an incentive for people to go out to the raid physically once corona stops being a douche.

The way PvP is implemented is janky enough. I think trying to add more moves would just make it worse without a full overhaul.

The defense decrease shouldn't be live yet. I wager it'll get activated when the ability to remote invite friends comes into play.

Something as simple as "show team of 6, from which each player picks 3 that the other is not able to see" would make battles feel a lot less random, I think.

I swapped out ludicolo for an alolan ninetales because of a current lack of ability to handle altaria and skarmory, and lo and behold, the very next battle I get matched to someone running whiscash.

Ultimately, though, there's kind of a reason why the handhelds had a move called "protect" that also balanced it by making it increasingly likely to fail from subsequent uses.

Yeah, that might work if Niantic doesn't completely bork the interface for it.

Wait, you swapped in Alolan Ninetails for Skarmory? I mean, it can catch Skarmories off guard with how much Ice Beam still hurts, but that's not really the greatest match-up for it. I've found mine usually does pretty well against Whiscash. It's not a hugely advantageous match-up, but Whiscash gets hurt real bad by the Charm spam and will generally lose unless it shields the one charged attack A-Ninetails is going to get.

Had a lanturn already for skarmory. It's just that both snorlax and lanturn together tends to not do well enough against the combination of skarmory and altaria and the third mon from the opposing side. Ludicolo's razor leaf wasn't building up nearly enough energy for it to get off an ice beam, on top of people are learning to hold off on shields.

Having a bad initial match-up is way too much of a disadvantage currently. There's a notion that you throw in a "safe switch" except the nature of the game means that no such mon exists.

Currently have powder snow on the Alolan ninetales on the logic it's meant to fight altaria, and I just realized that yeah, I can just throw Charm on it instead because it's also good against dragons.

Yeah, the lead match-up being so big a determiner is a huge gripe for me and part of why I hardly bother playing anymore. Sure, there's no real 100% safe switch, but you can bring something neutral to enough things for it to be safe most of the time. Mind, this still puts you at switch disadvantage, so it's not a panacea.

Well this is new. I suddenly have five gifts for gifting despite only walking around the house with no Stop.

Guess the buddy going out to bring you a pokestop gift thing is live and active now.

Ah so if you have a buddy, they'll give you gifts to give based on nearby stops?

One a day, I believe.

So I did a remote raid with some people on Discord and got me a shiny Darkari!

Ah, battle league, where energy and managing the shields and switch out timer is more important than type half the time, and "not very effective" can still hit you for half your health.

No, I'm not at all bitter about climbing to 1930s and then falling back to 1860s.

Am tempted to look up how the "lost battles so you get matched up against weak players" thing works.

I don't bother with PVP anymore, mainly cause of lag bullshit and luck of the draw on what you'll face.

I, on the other hand, still haven't had my aspirations for reaching rank 8 crushed yet. Plus, ya know, dust, candies, and Landorus has finally been removed from the rewards rotation.

There's not really much to getting weaker matches other than just throwing a ton of battles in a row, then only winning until you get what you want in the streak, then throwing the rest of the streak out. You just need to keep your rating really low (just not too low, or else you get stuck with long matchmaking times and other people who are trying to farm the same way).
