Lib, when in doubt, pick Herakles with his Bond CE and put him in the last spot.

It solves most of your troubles, trust me.

Wait, I can't remember, doesn't the first fight with Gawain end after so many turns?

All I've seen of that is him saying "Pretty good. But not good enough" when he's about to land the final blow.

The first right ends after doing damage, the second fight you need to beat him; he keeps all of his buffs, but he has a significantly lower health pool.

I think the damage reduction drops from 80 to 50%, but otherwise it's pretty similar.

Do you have me on your friendlist? I can throw up a Euryale and a bonded Herc for your use.

[up] It should be the same as their forum name. I can put up Emiya Alter since his NP ignores defense and had a chance to decrease the enemy's charge.

Edit: I also have Holmes, but he is only level 70, and I'm not sure how useful his NP would be against Gawain.

Okay, yeah, I believe I have you.

Anyway I’m halfway to the number of Archer Pieces I have to have to Ascend Euryale. Now I’ll just need to wait until I can grab more Archer embers (plus the ones from the shop) to level her up again.

Decided to finally start properly working on getting Herc's bond ce (he's only at bond 7), is there anybody else that gets a lot of use out of their bond ce?

[up]George's is decent. But the fact is that most bond C Es aren't worth using due to their low stats and mediocre effects.

TIL about Orthenaus Suit's potential name origin.

Ortenax¨
A magical species of fish from the Euphrates river.

A rib bone from the Ortenax formed one half of the crosspiece on the Sword with the Strange Hangings. Anyone touching the rib would forget all his joys and sorrows until he released it.

For reference, the sword in question is the Sword of David, which eventually belonged to Galahad.

Aaaaand blasted right through Salem.

It was sure... something alright. I'm definitely mixed with my feelings on it.

The Good: Characters were all around really enjoyable. Abby is a good girl and I was surprised to find I cared about her as much as I did. Circe absolutely steals the show, though. Salem also did a great job about making me care about servants I'd otherwise wouldnt spare a second thought about, most notably Sanson and Nezha.

Though where Salem really shone was the first half of the plot. The plays were excellent for keeping things from being too grim all the time, but the quality of the writing was really really good when it was grim. The feeling of the very humanity you're trying to protect being the ones who were the most dangerous to you? Super clever. The dread that you might very well be next the whole time? Chilling. The fact that the first half felt small scale only added to the fact that you were in danger at any given moment, and it wouldnt take much for things to go downhill quickly. And go downhill they did.

The Bad: The second half of Salem. Unfortunately, Salem really really drops the ball. They had a really good small-scale singularity with a terrifying villain in the unknown and ramped things up way too fast. I almost got whiplash as things went from "this city is messed up and you have to find the cause" to "hey by the way literally the whole world is in danger right now". Like, what makes Lovecraftian horrors so terrifying is the contrast in scale between you (who lives in but a small town) and a god that lives outside of reason and dwarfs everything you could ever think of. That horror disappears when it's a global catastrophe rather than a god toying with you... and you can suddenly punch it.

Not to mention all the magic babble that doesnt quite make much sense. Also what on earth was up with that dude who didnt even get a unique CG and apparently can just, travel universes? What? It's like, as the chapter went on it did whatever it could to stop having any sense of cohesion when it came to tone or setting.

Finally, unfortunately the major plot twists were predictable if the game didnt outright spoil it for you. Oh wow Abby was the one possesed by the Eldritch horror?? if only it wasnt spoiled by her summoning banner or all the advertising. Tituba was actually Queen of Sheba?? shame i couldnt tell by their CGs being literally identical. Carter was the demon pillar? How could I tell? It's not like he wasnt one of two named characters from the beginning of the plot.

The battles were tough which I liked, but the downside is that none of them felt unique. They were all generic waves with a boss at the end, not even any unique mechanics.

Overall Salem was... alright. It would have absolutely been my favorite EOR chapter had it not dropped the ball so so so hard in the last half.

Probably rate the EOR chapters in order as:

CCC >> Shimousa > Salem > Shinjuku >>>>>> Agartha (Agartha was still significantly worse and really really bad)

Then naturally all of EOR falls below Camelot and Babylonia, but above Okeanos. Except Agartha, which is the absolute worst along with Septem.

Time to see what the Prologue has in store for me. Surely, this next year will be full of exciting and joyful adventurs as the Chaldea family pushes onward.
