Is there anything special about when/how to get snow yams? Because it's the 10th of Winter now and I haven't been able to find any.

EDIT: Never mind. Apparently you have to till the earth in the southwest river area, the same place where you find spring onions.

You can get them in other spots too, look for spots where there's little wriggly bits poking out (people call them worms but the game calls them stems). These give a variety of other things too.

Is something significant supposed to happen with the Bathhouse? I figured a cutscene for it or something when it was unlocked, but I haven't seen that or any other people go into it besides myself.

I have heard of things happening but at least some of them may be relationship-dependant and I don't want to spoil them for myself.

It feels like I'm running out of things to do easily. And I'm not sure quite how to get into the social stuff maybe?

So, on a daily basis, I'm watering my plants and I finish that usually by 7 or 8. Then I go down to the tide pools to collect whatever clams or coral are there. I maybe fish until around noon and then sell what I have.

By then, I try to get social with some of the people but it feels like I'm not getting much? I get maybe a line or so and that's it. I'm not sure who to woo either because the Flower Dance is coming up soon and I hear you can dance with any of the Bachelors/ettes? But you have to have 5 hearts for them to dance with you.

I was looking at Alex, but I'm not sure. The Doctor seems a bit... Older? Sebastian kind of feels like a loner kid and then the writer on the beach (???) seems to be a bit pretentious but otherwise my type. The blond guy (???) seems like a decent runner up to Alex though too. But I feel like I don't know enough about any of them to make such a quick decision.

Anyway, after selling what I've got and trying to be social, I feel like I don't have much left to do. I try to hit the mines, but I'm out of energy by about 2 PM. Am I doing something wrong?

I might just start over soon, if just because that's what I normally do with RP Gs after I learn the basic mechanics.

Food lets you regain energy; if you're exhausted by early afternoon I guess you're doing a lot of wood cutting or stone breaking. The main source of "good" food early on is the tavern and nibbling at veggies; when you hit level 1 foarging you'll start to get seeds from trees and the recipe to make field snacks. Advanced cooking requires the first house upgrade which gives you a kitchen and you're a long way from that.

Social climbing entails giving gifts to people. Each person has likes and dislikes but there are a number of common things; all "artisan goods" are good, for example. I want to say flowers are good or neutral for most people. You can do trial and error or you can look at the wiki. Giving on their birthday is extra-good. Doing quests for people also advances you. You probably won't have enough relationship with anyone for the first dance though.

You have to give a special bouquet to someone to initiate romance, so don't worry about falling into one accidentally - you can level friendship with as many people as you want.

So far so good. Growing potatoes mostly, visiting the mine after i water crops to get enough copper and other materials to upgrade my tools and build money up.

Starcraft personality Day 9 takes on the game.

Should've named the farm "The Plott", though.

I still can't wrap my head around the game scoring you after only two years.

That essentially means that the first year you'll suck, since there's no real way you'll know what's coming or how best to do stuff. Then year 2, you better buckle up your damn trousers because that's the last chance you'll get, as far as the game's concerned.

I may have misread the code of the achievement section; been told it probably means you have to get those certain achievements. Still a lot though.

I hear that the rating thing is part of the Harvest Moon heritage. Getting a perfect score is supposed to be an acomplishment. However you can just chose not to put stock in the rating, especially since it marks you down a lot if you go super-specialized.

I don't mind being graded two years in.

I've logged 18 hours already and I'm still in year 1 summer.
I couldn't imagine getting to year 5 and 'having' to start over because I wasn't efficient 3 years(90 hours, rounding down) ago.

Also, I think I may be becoming addicted already.

Well, this is annoyingly slow. Been doing a lot of random digging with my hoe in hopes of finding enough clay.

Wish I could skip it, but you know...if you wanna have hay, you gotta have clay.

Clay is really hard to find as well as it has a low drop rate.

Someone honestly should sell it.

You also get clay from those dirt-spots with worms and sometimes from geodes.

Not better solutions, but easier-to-obtain ones. Mostly.

I've also heard the sandy spots in cave floors suggested.

Try the official wiki, a lot is still in progress but they're working on it.

Apparently a train just passed through the Valley. Dunno how important it was; I was there to watch it roll by, but if I was supposed to do anything with it, I didn't see an opportunity.

As far as anyone can tell so far, watching it can net you random stuff falling out of it.

Man, marriage really exposes a lot of the game's bugginess. Abigail griped about not being able to move due to my house being a mess even though there's a clear path to the front door. She mentioned that she wanted to water some crops but there was none to water after she had just watered some crops. I was unable to ask her to be my partner at the Flower Dance and she still danced with Sebastian. >_>

Speaking of, are there Heart Events for the non-dateable villagers? I've already got the 2-Heart events for Leah and Penny, but I'm not sure if there are actually any implemented for the others (I know there are some for Linus, which is what makes me confused).

You able to upgrade watering can or use sprinklers yet? The later allows for automated watering and the former lets you water large areas faster by holding down the button. (Upgrade watering can the day before rain is forecast or at the end of the season when you don't need to bother water things for a couple days.)
