Being the Irredeemable Ant-man rather undermines his position viz a viz a redemption story. tongue

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!

The leaked Comic-Con footage from a while ago. I wonder if Marvel will ever officially release it.

Marvel probably doesn't want to dwell on that now. I am super hopeful for a really good trailer that will better show off the film's strengths. That footage sells what Ant Man can do very well.

The Irredeemable Ant-Man was a different Ant-Man entirely - who actually was irredeemable, not because of mega-evilness but because he was just a completely and unrepentant dick with no intention or desire to redeem himself.

Scott Lang started out a crook but he was very much redeemable.

[up]I didn't follow him very closely, but I was under the impression the "Irredeemable" Ant-Man actually did stop being so much of a dick over time.

I can't really remember all that clearly but from memory he went from jerk with heart of jerk to jerk with a heart with a teeny tiny smidgen of very tarnished gold way, way, WAY deep down. So I guess not totally irredeemable but much less sympathetic than Scott Lang, the MCU Ant-Man.

Ironically enough poor old Hank Pym, the original and still the best Ant-Man, seems to be treated as irredeemable for his moment of madness (literally, he was in the middle of a literal breakdown) slapping Jan ONCE. When the whole point was that was something wildly out of character and never done before or since. Now he's got a Dr Light style reinvention as Slap-Man The Abusive despite all his achievements.

I blame Ultimate Hank Pym.

[up][up][up]I never followed that series closely, but wasn't him a generally nice guy in Secret Avengers? I agree he is considerably less sympathetic than Scott Lang, though. But Lang is an awesome guy all around.

[up]He got less awful in Secret Avengers and ended up pulling a Heroic Sacrifice.
