I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but I have a feeling I'm going to really hate Reaper once the game is out. No offense to anyone who does like him, but he seems like the kind of character that's going to attract the worst kinds of players in every sense of the word because of both play style and general design.

To a degree none of the characters seem entirely fleshed out or three dimensional to me, but Reaper just seems like the worst sort of 90's grim-dark "cool badass" villain. It goes so far I would almost think he's a parody, but I just know there's going to be players totally into that. Since he seems like he'll be the easiest character to pick up, I'm pretty worried that most people who main him are going to be scrubby douchebags, but I guess we'll see.

Yeah, Reaper strikes me as one of the least interesting P Cs, both in playstyle and characterization.

Finally managed to watch through the gameplay vids, and the first thing I gotta say is that the overall flow is....wonky. Characters seems to move pretty slowly and stiffly for the most part (outside of whatever movement abilities they have), but then you get the fights with all the abilities firing off at once and shit gets crazy. It's been a while since I've played TF 2, and I know this is supposed to be different, but it still feels really odd but interesting in comparison. Some of the gameplay choices also seem pretty interesting, such as basically-infinite ammo and the ultimate not being cooldown-based.

The primary complaint that I see in all the comments is about the low fixed FOV, but I actually don't have an issue with it. The guns really don't get in the way, and any frantic camera moving seems to be more do to the game's overall chaos then any kind of compensating. Only thing I have an issue with is Winston's left arm awkwardly flailing in and out of the left side of the screen.

Really, the biggest issue I have is the constant voice-line repetition. I like that the characters talk but they just say the same shit over and over and over and I'm already sick of it by mid-match. They definitely need to add more variety, but they also might need to tone down how much they talk, just to make it harder for the lines to loop and repeat.

I understand only having one voice line for ults, because it helps you figure out who is doing what game changing action at the moment.

But yeah, they need more voice lines in general.

In a way, it seems like it's inspired by Smite, in that the line is meant to be an auditory cue. For example, in one of those videos how you can hear the enemy McCree drawl "It's hiiiiiiiigh noon." before firing his ult. The problem is that, as an FPS, these "conditions" (for lack of a better term) are going to be hit much more rapidly. "JUSTICE! RAINS/REIGNS FROM ABOVE!" is especially bad because it's silly as shit and fire off all the goddamn time.

Let's not even get to the groaning that happens every time your health goes critical. Or, as I like to call it, "Symmetra keeps having orgasms on the battlefield while Mercy helps".

There is now a news section on the official Overwatch site! As soon as there's news to reveal, it'll be here!

To start us off, there's more information on the game's appearance at gamescom, as well as a report on that mysterious attack of a former Overwatch base in Colorado, where a prototype weapon was stolen...

More teasing!

This time, we actually get a good look at our mystery man's back, as well as a name to call him— Soldier: 76.

Wow, no one's excited for this news. Well, it won't stop me from doing my job.

Olympia Shaw has written an article about the apparent death of Overwatch legend Jack Morrison (that guy with the statue in the cinematic trailer)... and even the possibility that he could be the mysterious Soldier: 76.

I like the writing, but unless it results in another playable character, then I'm not really that hyped about it. I really like what they're doing, though. Give the mice something to nibble on.

As someone who enjoys the hell out of Blizz's side lore, I found that article to be fantastic.

but HOW?

So, at this point we have two options for who Soldier 76 could be.

The other is almost certainly going to be Reaper.

And so it's confirmed. Soldier: 76 is a playable hero.

But with all this teasing, how could he not be?

I am excite.

Not sure how good he'll be, but his ult IS an aimbot. Kinda.

He looks away from Reaper but his rifle keeps shooting at Reaper in the video.

[up] That's because he fires on whichever enemy is closest to the spot he's aiming, no matter what direction he's looking; they only have to be in his line of sight.

Reaper just happened to be closer at the time.

I know. Which is cool.

We'll see how good he really is in time.

That little reveal isn't all for 76, though— he also gets his own origin story video!

There are some elements you might find very interesting...

So we can confirm it is, in fact, Jack.

Also, Reinhardt has a beard. Why does that surprise me.

So the TF 2 similarities continue as Blizzard introduces sanctioned aimbotting to their game. tongue

Something you guys might get a kick out of:

Torbjorn can, somehow, fly.

And that's probably Reaper in the background

The woman at the far left- is that Widowmaker?

but HOW?

[up] Nope— looking closer, it's definitely Pharah's mom. Has all the signs— the Egyptian symbol tattoo on her eye like her daughter and the fact that her sleeve reads Amari (as in Fareeha Amari, Pharah's real name).

Getting caught up on my Overwatch info, still got a bunch of play videos to check out. Soldier 76 looks damn interesting, especially given that he's the fallen icon of the unit.

I can already see the "jokes" now. Oh, someone's playing 76? Oh, lol. The gears begin to turn and, "Lol, hacker. I'm clever, hur." The same is going to be for the sniper with the wall hacks, but at least you have to aim with that one, so it won't face the brunt of as many jokes.

Okay, I thought Mc Cree was going to be my main, but 76 looks really, really cool. The mask and jacket and color scheme are extremely appealing to me.

He does seem very basic though, especially by this game's standards. His super also seems to have very little risk to it. Mc Cree's is very similar, but he has to wait and stand still while it readies. I guess some experimentation is in order to see how that compare.

I'm kind of hoping there's cosmetic customization eventually, if only because I kind of want to play a younger version of 76, but old guys are cool too, and he just looks soooooo cool with the mask/visor/jacket/color combo.
