Sure. Could work if we go for characters that are not on the League.
When I say that I don't mean literally like the league and not necessarily in the victorian era, but if I picked a random setting like the early 20th century and created a jazz filled atmosphere with modern art and all that stuff, would tv tropes forums find or create interesting characters to go along the journey?

Out of MindI could be enticed towards either of those settings.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win. You've caught my interest but looks like you need to firm up your universe. I'll keep an eye out for this though. Have you run a game before?
Strato? Why wouldn't the characters from League be cool?
And in answer to the original question, as long as porn isn't involved pretty much anything goes with the management.
Trump delenda est...Sonovabitch, I was just thinking of starting a League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen type Victorian literature game.
Literature eh? heh... interesting
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.Great to see the enthusiasm. To tricksterson, I ran and participated in some rps ages ago on another forum and have the basic plots of several stories being mapped out right now. I'm trying to narrow down from these choices.
A.) A basic steampunk, league of extraordinary gentlemen scenario. More specifically a hunt across a globe I've already mapped out for the frankenstein monster.
B.) A 1920's-40's literary murder mystery through new york. Not as railroaded as the others and the story is as large or small as the characters can deal with. For reference on how classy this one is, I will be playing as J. Alfred Prufrock.
C.) A very rough outline for an adventure in 16th century europe and maybe beyond. (The europe part not the 16th century part.) Involves some magic but very little and is considered a very intensive process use it. Think midsummers night's dream, faust and more.

Out of MindI vote A.
I second that vote
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.I vote A with an option for eventually going time traveler and hitting B and C as well.

Trump delenda estI haven't read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but this does sound interesting. What characters are reccomended and can I play with no knowledge of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.Assuming this is based on the first two volumes of League (AKA the only good ones) then I'd imagine that characters from Victorian literature of all sorts are on the menu.

Alright then A it is. Again, it's going to be kind of railroaded (I have a globe and a path we'll take on it) but there will be choices which can alter things drastically. I'll get to writing character sheets and a few pieces of prose and we'll be set.
Out of MindIts going to be awesome

The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.@tricksterson, sorry but time travel is all but ruled out, I have so many interactions and such, planned meeting several villains based off of victorian stories. We might make a small sojourn in these places connected to the HG Welles time machine story but a very short one.

Out of MindUntil then keep an eye out for "Captain Kurtz' Fantastic Adventures"
Out of MindOhh, I was talking very long term as in when the possibilities of A were exhausted. Btw, are we talking OCs, literary characters or both?
Trump delenda estAny you wish. What I'm going for with the NPC's is either elseworlds of characters (you don't want to know what I do to Oliver Twist) or expies. For instance my character Captain Kurtz is an alternate Kurtz from Heart of Darkness with a dash of Dr. Frankenstein, Captain Nemo and several other insufferable genius jackasses. (His name is also a play on Captain Kirk.)

Out of MindHuh. I thought if it was based on The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen then all PCs would be literary characters rather than OCs.
@Vox. Both OC's and literary characters. If you want you can make your character a perfect adaptation, or mangle their story horribly either is fine. I interpret this as an alternate history and how these characters would be different because of it. More in the sign-up.

Out of MindSo timewise we're talking about mid-19th century?
Trump delenda estLate 18th century. 1892 to be precise although time is no issue.
Out of Mind
Nothing specific I just have some plans for a crossover with characters from literature in an Extraordinary Gentleman type scenario. Do you think TV tropes is game for it?
