Transformers does it for marketing reasons and doesn't get a new film with a spin-off TV series. I'm a little baffled Transformers does it so often too.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Plus, Transformers has only been doing completely new continuities since Armada back in 2001/2002.
For years, everything was G1. It's just that G1 wasn't just one single series, but comprised a continuity family of the show, the comics, and later the Japanese series once they started Headmasters.
It's only in the last twenty years or so that they've been rebooting every new series.
One Strip! One Strip!Correction... correction on my behalf... Transformers just got a new film and probably has an IDW or animated series coming out too. Thanks Netflix.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Huh. I knew about Wrath of the Mutants (basically a console release of an arcade game with bonus content), but Splintered Fate completely escaped me. I'll keep an eye on it.
EDIT: Oh, that was a mobile game before. Okay, still cool news.
