Do any xbox or PC players still play? We are reportadly getting cross saves, and more importantly coss play tomorow and over on ps4 we are at 4/6 for a raid group.

PS 4's not part of the cross-save thing.

Yes it is, PS 4 was the reason it didn't come sooner.

I don't own Forsaken yet, but... if you guys are gonna start raiding and cross-play is viable from PC to PS 4, then I might just make the plunge. What times are you guys looking at?

I actually need to buy Forsaken & I guess the year 2 pass.

Huh whats preventing me from playing the game further. I downloaded the base game for free due to PS Plus & got the 1st 2 DLC for cheap but Forsaken is 40 bucks last time I checked & the year 2 shit means even more money, meaning I am effectively paying for a full game maybe even more.

Stuff really needs to go on discount.

I think we might just be getting cross saves.

If we do get cross play I doubt consoles will be able to play with P Cs.

Either way the big announcement for the future of Destiny 2 is tomorrow so we'll see then.

Oh really when?

Yeah, I highly doubt it'll be cross-play on PS 4 any time soon, considering Sony's approach to cross-platform play.

[up] Bungie has said on record that Sony being like that is why we didn't get it in Destiny 1, they wanted crossplay since before launch but refused to leave one system out.

So the fact that they are doing it now, and not until the playstation exclusive contract runs out makes me think its much more likley they got sony to relent.

Otherwise, why wait for the exclusives to run out? And why change stance now, and not right after actibliz.

Darn... was hoping to play with you guys. Oh well, guess I'll hold off until PC-PS 4 crossplay is officially announced and confirmed to work.

Endgadget put up their article on the news early.

  • Renamed to New Light.
  • All year one content including the base game will become free to play when Shadowkeep launches.
  • All future content will become a la carte.
  • Cross play coming for everyone, including Google Stadia, but not including PS 4.
  • No more platform exclusive or timed exclusive content.
  • PC version will migrate over to Steam. Players will be able to transfer accounts to Steam version when this happens.

Good, they're making use of this to break the fuck away from what Activision wanted them to do.

Wait, Destiny 2 will be ported to Steam by the beginning of next year?! HALLELUJAH!!!

...well, for the sake of fairness and 20/20 hindsight, the Battlenet servers were fairly decent, no complaints about their setup. Certainly superior to the vagueness of the Epic store, and since I have a few friends who still frequently play World of Warcraft that meant I could see whenever they came online and chat em up.

[up] Its going free and completely leaving B-Net, so you will have to uninstall the huge game and down load it again.

And it seems like those who actually paid for the game are getting screwed. Seriously why did I actually pay for this disaster when its just going to be completely free.... No Veteran Rewards or that shadowwhatever included in the game for people who paid for it.

I'm not complaining, the massive influx of players this will no doubt bring will be a huge boon in itself. What DOES worry me though is the nature of the future DLC packs. Are they going to produce expansions akin to how Wo W does, ex Mists of Pandera, Cataclysm, Battle for Azeroth? Or is this going to be the same deal from the first Destiny, with the devs only making small pieces of DLC-ish content? Because the latter is going to suck, and will probably just needlessly segregate the playerbase.

This sounds like good news, but I'm not sure it's enough to bring me back to it. Still can't help feeling that the game is pretty fundamentally flawed.

From the sounds of it they're going back to the old intellect/strength/discipline thing and armor is getting completely overhauled to where all it's perks will come from customizable mods.

[up]So no more endless grinding in hopes that you'll eventually find that one particular armor set with the set of perks and stats you desire? Thank god.

[up][up][up][up][up]Fundamentally flawed doesn't mean it isn't fun to play. What in particular are you worried about? Depending on what made you leave, your problems might have been fixed already.

[up][up][up]Feels kinda weird if you put it that way, considering we already have ways to guarantee what gear we want from certain activities, sometimes even including what perks we get.

but HOW?
artfulscruff Since: Apr, 2010
#13996: Jun 8th 2019 at 3:15:32 AM

[up] It was just so damned boring, basically. To be fair, "fundamentally flawed" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I did feel that there was something deeply wrong with the game. I left after playing Warmind. The main thing I remember now is that there was a huge fucking plateau between the power level you'd get to from doing story content and regular strikes and other activities and the power level you needed for endgame activities (heroic/nightfall strikes, whatever that wave attack thing was on Mars). There was nothing inbetween them, to get you those intermediate power levels.

That was the most immediate thing bothering me in terms of gameplay, I think, but there was plenty of other stuff too. Off the top of my head:

  • After a relatively strong start in the main game, Osiris and Warmind stories went back to the weak model of 'vague alien threat is gonna destroy the solar system'
  • Both expansions also wasted cool concepts; the Infinite Forest and Rasputin
  • Ridiculously limited and grindy faction stuff

I thought I'd be able to think of more, and I'm sure there was more. TL;DR though, I just became extremely disappointed and frustrated with the whole game, the whole franchise even, and I still have little goodwill for them. I think Garcon is the only person I've heard saying stuff is better now, though I don't recall him ever pointing out anything specific, and I've heard too much about bizarre questlines with obscure and difficult solutions and other such things, combined with my lack of goodwill, to make me want to shell out yet more money for more DLC.

The path to higher light level gear is super simple and real easy to do now.

I usually can't even get to all my powerful drops over the course of the week there's so many.

Forsaken was a Taken King sized reset of all the old core problems, the game is in a great spot right now.

Okay I can’t find Forsaken on the PS Store now. The closest is is a Destiny collection that includes Forsaken discounted at 40 bucks instead of 99 bucks.

The Hell’s going on? I can’t buy Forsakken individually? How am I supposed to get the Year 2 pass, that shit can’t be bought without Forsaken. I’ll have to buy the collection.

The annual pass is going to be discontinued and instead is going to be sold with Forsaken as a bundle for $40.

Go double check the description and see if it includes the annual pass.

I just looked out of curiosity to see if it was actually cheap yet, and I can't find the Forsaken pack on its own, I only see 'the complete collection'. Not that I'd have been buying it anyway, because of the much-mentioned lack of faith, and also this year is a good year for videogames; I've got many things unfinished at the moment, as well as at least three more releases coming this year (perhaps more depending on what gets announced at E3), and on top of that I bought a Switch recently, so there are games on that for me to work through too :P I don't have the space for Destiny at the moment.

ninja'd

But shit like this is part of the problem. I already shelled out £80-£90 for the base game and first season pass (and was severely let down by the season pass), and now I'm expected to buy them again, effectively, even at a discount? No thanks.
