Considering the word "revamp" it's a bit more than a patch.
Also, "necessary" isn't quite the word to use ether.
Going on the video of the revamped Barrett fight, the boss arena has been updated to include new features, such as a second floor, vents, computer consoles, turrets, and the hallway before the boss chamber. Pretty sure that most of those require more effort than a mere patch. Additionally, Barrett's AI probably needed tweaking so it wouldn't break when you leave the vanilla game boss arena.
Once I saw that article pop up in my feed, I wondered if this was being talked about here. I'm still wondering if this is some hoax.
Cowboy Be Bop is facepalming at his computer.
Wow, you can really tell they didn't even bother to do any research at all. As soon as to get past the intro page it becomes pretty clear it's just a fake site to market a product, doesn't even look like a real company site at all.
Director's Cut is out on Steam, downloading now, woo.
You lie, it still says 2 day 19 hours left.
Must be a region thing, cause I just started installing it.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Yeah, it's still locked out over here too.
Bugger.
The Director's Cut does look better. Less yellow and the characters are less pale, especially Prick-chard. Always thought he looked like a middle-aged Edward Cullen.
I can see why Eidos wanted only one battery to recharge over time - the ability to do two separate takedowns within such a short amount of time without using a candy bar is quite broken. (If you're worried it makes the game too easy, IIRC Hard Mode has the same battery system as the vanilla game).
Meh. Equip the stun gun, sneak up behind Bad Guy #1. Takedown, stun Bad Guy #2. If more than 2 guys, gas 'em.
Give me Deus Ex does indeed restrict you to one battery.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Killed Barrett. The fight was actually pretty painless. The only tricky part was stunning him for long enough to get to the ladder. I think they may have nerfed his grenades - I'm pretty sure that everytime they've hit me on Normal in the vanilla game, it was an instant kill, but I managed to survive one he tossed while I was climbing the ladder.
So it seems like the Director's Cut is even more laggy with my shitty laptop. So that's not very nice.
I mean, I had similar problems with The Missing Link. But the vanilla game was at least playable.

So are the boss battles a significant improvement, or kinda crummy?
From what I've heard the graphical issues are mainly popping up on Nvida cards. AMD cards seem to run just fine... so far.
And that helps me how? I don't think I can change cards on this laptop. Or that I'd know how if I could.
Also, my computer has a "Radeon Graphics" sticker thingy on it.
THEN YOU NEEDZ TO BUY NEW GAMNG COMPZ N 00 B OR U NOT A TRU GAEMR!!!!11111

Mixed metaphors.
And dammit, this is why I switched to console gaming.
You kids these days and your fixation on graphical power and your money and your superiority and grumble mumble...

Apparently, they completely revamp the infamous boss fights. Something that was really necessary. In other words, they pretty much demand money for a patch.
Add the fact that console users get fucked over and it's unlikely that I'll ever get it. Well, maybe a used copy.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.
