To be fair, even POST Shippuden, its one of the better fights. Most fights on Shippuden are just "Throw nukes at each other. Whoever lives wins."
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Yeah, the fights in Part 1 generally had much more tactical finesse to them.
(There were some exceptions to the rule of course, like Shikamaru vs Hidan)

Is there any fight you didnt know was a big deal until much later. I loved The Sannin fight but it didnt occur to me until I watched fansubs that it was meant to be a BIG FIGHT. I know because 2 episodes were shown together as an special in Japan.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. The fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru in the Forest of Death is still one of my favorite battles.
Sasuke was having his character development through internal monologue.
The punches and kicks and motion blurs were sublime. Music was on-point for two ninja throwing hands.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Gaara vs Lee is still tops for part 1.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOMG that is actually my favorite fight in the franchise. The title in Raw Japanese is so cool to say too!
蘇れ写輪眼!必殺・火遁龍火の術!, Yomigaere Sharingan! Hissatsu: Katon Ryūka no Jutsu!
"The Sharingan is Revived, Killing Blow, Dragon Flame Jutsu"
I know the translation is shitty but I cant just put the Japanese with no translation.

Agreed.
Lee's still popular right? Despite not winning many on screen fights (I think he's improved since then, but still).
One Strip! One Strip!
What?? You mean his victory against the Kangaroo boxer in the anime is not impressive enough?
But yes, Rock Lee is usually popular; he came in as number 5 or 6 in some popularity polls I saw, (sometimes even higher than Kakashi and Sakura)

Every Hero has his own way of eating yogurtThe boy got heart.
I wonder if Boruto will give Lee his own "Night Guy" moment.
Another one of the things the Anime and Movies did better, in my opinion: They gave my boy Lee some awesome fights, many of which he even won
The fight against Shira for example was freaking epic
Just felt like repeating a point that I made before, about the Uchiha's massacre.
Could the Third Hokage have stopped the coup peacefully, by naming Itachi as his successor?
Not right away of course because he was still young but maybe in a couple of years.
That may have appeased the Uchihas (the leader of the coup was Itachi's father) and will be throwing a bone to the clan that have been one of the two founders of Konoha, and were generally loyal despite the discrimination and paranoia against theme.
Itachi is one of the strongest ninjas in his age, (stronger than Orochimaru who was the favorite for the position) and the third respected his wisdom, so in a couple of years he can make a good Hokage.
.................
Of course Danzo will do the impossible to stop that, but still.

Every Hero has his own way of eating yogurtDanzo probably would have done what he could to prevent it, but it might have been a good idea to try.
One Strip! One Strip!Tobirama would be rolling in his grave...
The latest Cilvanis (youtuber) skit was about how bad of a role model Hiruzen was to Naruto in particular. It also reminded a lot of commenters that it was an argument with him that led to Asuma, his own son, leaving Konoha for years. The Sannin also also variously left Konoha for extensive periods. Maybe he doesn't have the best judgment or personality.
The sad, REAL American dichotomynew Bort chapter out
Omnipotence reestablishing itself over time is annoying but at least suitably "godly" I guess.
And hey Mitsuki gets a little something but it's not really what I like honestly.
Secret SignatureOmnipotence not being a one time thing fixes a lot of issues, but it makes me wonder how Boruto knows that, and why it isn't rewriting memories of people that were affected but chose to believe Boruto (like Sasuke and now Shikamaru)
Frankly i think it's a stretch to consider him a role model in the first place.
I cant believe I used to LOVE the Third Hokage, he went from one of my favorites to my most hated character, replacing Kakashi whom I now like and understand better.
Also I heard someone her post that showing Naruto's Parent's death was an awful decision and while I love Minato and Kushina, I now see they are right. Showing Hiruzen SWEAR he will take care of Naruto and then fail him so utterly was one of Kishimoto's SHODDIEST DECISIONS. iF he hadnt shown that I wouldnt hate Hiruzen so much.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. The Third Hokage is pretty much the Jimmy Carter of the Naruto verse. A nice and caring man, who was just not made to be a leader.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Manga hiruzen is a guy who can have a kind heart, but by job, experience and circumstance is capable of being tough. In fact, the whole point of the Orochimaru defection is that between that cold and calculating learned nature and his more kind and caring inner nature, the latter took over. We see a similar tension with Asuma. With added context, this is also kind of similar to Hashirama (who too is a kind soul in a harsh world) but with a streak of Tobirama (who is far more utilitarian).
Hiruzen is impacted by this the most, but it's fairly painfully obvious that Kishimoto realized the implications of Narutos' backstory on basically every Konoha character and then chose to simply ignore it. Cause logically, every single person he met and befriended would have and should have actually shunned him.
Hiruzen's had his fingers crossed when he made that promise (a classic ninja trick).
I wonder why no one pointed out Hiruzen made that promise in the anime but not in the manga. In fact most of his nastier scenes are not in the Manga.
I still hate him though. He's a failure through and through.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.At the very least, he really shouldn't have left two orphans, one with a demon inside of him and the other with a super powered eyes, to struggle on their own. If nothing else, I feel like making sure they have some support network including a long term parental figure (even if just for the practicality of making sure neither kid goes crazy) should be his job.
