* VideoGameMoviesSuck: Inverted. IGN (who gave it a 7/10) called it one of the first good video game movies. It helps that this movie is a) part of the series canon and therefore b) was written by the writer behind the games. It also helps that the original ''VideoGame/ProfessorLayton'' games were already heavily story-based and closer to "movies with puzzles as intermissions" than to pure game play (as opposed to the like of ''Film/SuperMarioBros'' or ''Film/PrinceOfPersiaTheSandsOfTime'').
