Feelies: These episodes had specific scratch and sniff stickers released by Burger King to promote The Rugrats Movie. The smells for "Sandy's Rocket" included the scenes where Patrick gets toothpaste in SpongeBob's peanut butter and where SpongeBob pulls out Squidward's hot water bottle. "Squeaky Boots" had only one sticker, which was used when Mr. Krabs dips the boots in fryer oil, shrinking them. The symbol used to signify when to scratch and sniff during "Squeaky Boots" was accidentally left in the episode until 2002, three years after the stickers were discontinued.
Sandy's Rocket:
What Could Have Been: Plankton and Pearl were originally going to appear in "Sandy's Rocket". Both of them do appear in the chapter book version and the latter requires six nets.
Squeaky Boots:
Blooper: The episode first premiered on Nickelodeon as part of a special promotion for The Rugrats Movie. Fans could purchase scratch-n-sniff cards before seeing the episode and then follow an on-screen prompt during "Squeaky Boots" to experience a smell at the same time Mr. Krabs is drowning SpongeBob's boots in hot oil. This prompt was accidentally inserted onto the episode's master tape, so every time it aired, the cartoon nose icon still appeared even long after the promotion ended. The icon was finally removed from the master in late 2002, although the Nicktoons Collection Volume 3Game Boy Advance Video release still had it.
Development Gag: "SpongeBoy" was SpongeBob's original name during the series' development, and the show itself was named SpongeBoy Ahoy!. It turned out "SpongeBoy" was being used for a set of pencils, so they had to change his name; Mr. Krabs refers to SpongeBob as "SpongeBoy, me Bob!" in this episode as a reference to the original name.
First Appearance: "Squeaky Boots" marks the first appearance of Pearl, and, in production order, many incidentals that appear in the series.
