Hmm, no new suggestions, so I guess I'll retool the other themed party that was suggested. Let's go with Palom, Porom, Rydia, Kain and Golbez. Kain alone is completely capable of wrecking his way down to B5.
On B5, we enter the first door we see and take what is possibly the most obvious hidden passage in the game to find Genji Gloves.
Good thing that passage was obvious, as it's also the way down. There's another Crystal at the floor exit here. But first, we grab the treasures at the bottom of the floor. Palom learns Firaga in the process.
We examine the Crystal.
Rydia: Can you feel that?
Kain: Ugh... Not him, too!
Golbez: (The man under Rubicante's command!)
Palom: Great, here we go again!
Porom: Here he comes!
The Crystal shatters and reveals Dr. Lugae and Barnabas.
Kain: I knew it!
Rydia: You!
Golbez: Lugae!
First priority, we need to Slow these guys and get Protect and Blink up (Protect for the front row, Blink for the back), especially as we're currently on a moon phase where Attack is up.
We then want to go all out on Barnabas. With Attack up, it's pretty easy to topple him.
Barnabas: Uhhhngh...
Dr. Lugae: No... my sweet, sweet Barnabas...
Dr. Lugae can slap status effects on us, but all he manages to do is Sleep Kain (annoying, but can be worked around) and Poison the entire party (who cares about Poison, Poison sucks) before we take him out. Rydia was doing 5000 damage a turn to him with Thundaga, that may have had something to do with it.
Dr. Lugae: Hahaha! Yes, that's right... I will show them... your power...
And that's it.
Kain: Lugae...
Golbez: (Such talent... If it were only pointed in the right direction...)
Palom: Sleep in peace, old man.
Porom: I can feel it... The regret in his heart is reverberating all over my own!
Rydia: Thank you, sir...
Some of these lines make no damn sense. Let's use the Save Point the Crystal was on to rest.
The twins stay out that night.
Porom: I really should have stayed behind. I knew it all along.
Palom: Don't worry. I'm sure the elder's fine.
Porom: That's not all I'm worried about. You know how terrible things are down there.
Palom: That's why we're here right now. We need to save Cecil and stop this moon.
Porom: ...
Palom: You think the elder's gonna keel over and die just like that? Come on! That's not the elder I know.
Porom: Yes... You're right.
Palom: You're acting kind of weird, you know that?
Porom: Listen, Palom. You still want to become a sage, right?
Palom: Huh? What're you bringing that up for, all of a sudden?
Porom: You respect Tellah and you want to follow in his footsteps... right?
Palom: I... well, how am I supposed to know!? Not at a time like this, no!
Porom: I'm sorry. You're right.
Palom: I kind of realized something when I left Mysidia, though.
Porom: ...Oh?
Palom: There're other people out there with the talent for that title... not just me.
Porom: You mean... Leonora?
Palom: Yeah. It kills me to admit it, but...
Porom: Well, that's a rare sight... seeing you compliment someone.
Palom: I'm not complimenting her, okay!? She's my apprentice!
Porom: Hee hee!
Palom: What!?
Porom: Oh, I'm just glad you're still the same old Palom.
Palom: Ah, forget it! Let's just go help that guy and get this thing over with already!
Porom: You mean Cecil?
Palom: Yes! Cecil! Whatever!
We learn Twincast. It's certainly not bad, but odds are I won't use it.
