Raguna's cold prevents him from getting much work done. Any attempts to use tools threatens to tire him out much more quickly than normal. He tries to get Lara's help, but since the next two days are festival days, she will be out of her office, and Raguna will be unable to get a check-up. Not content to just sit and wait for her (and being unsure of how long the effects of his cold will last), he cooks up some cold medicine to make it go away.

He spends the day conversing with the other villagers, who all are standing around reminiscing of days gone by. Most of them plan to wake up early to see the first sunrise of the new year. When Raguna gets to Town Square, he notices that the eerie singing around the statue has stopped, probably due to his interference with Gelwein's plan. Turner and Rita don't notice it, but Rita gives Raguna a present in the form of a New Mochi rice cake, which is traditionally eaten during the New Year's Festival.

His first year with the village has drawn to a close, and Raguna feels mostly satisfied with his progress in town, having grown tremendously in body, mind, and skill. There are still a few things he feels that he has to worry about for the new year - finding the right materials to upgrade his tools, purchasing larger storage for his lab and forge, and putting a stop to Gelwein's plan to crush Trampoli with the Great Whale. But how will Iris Noire's defeat potentially affect Iris Blanche? Will she still speak kindly of Raguna if she finds out he defeated her as-of-now unknown other half? The answers to these questions and more will come after the first sunrise of the new year...
