1* ContestedSequel: This is possibly the most divisive ''Dark Tower'' book, and tends to be labeled as either the high point or the low point of the series depending on who you ask. Some will tell you that it [[DoorStopper goes on too long]], totally kills the forward momentum of the series with its flashback-centric nature, focuses on a teen love story instead of the epic war going on, [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot fails to explore]] the world of ''Literature/TheStand'' when the characters reach it, and [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter completely wastes]] Tick Tock Man. Others will tell you that Roland's flashback is one of the most nuanced, engaging, and heart-wrenching stories Stephen King has ever constructed, and that it provides valuable insight into Roland's behavior and nicely sets the stage for the following three books.
2* {{Squick}}: Rhea "[[TooMuchInformation inspecting]]" Susan.
