!!As Seen on TV:
* HilariousInHindsight: Squidward builds a ''second'' Krusty Krab for the commercial, claiming it needed an understudy. A proper second Krusty Krab would later become an important plot point in [[WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobSquarePantsMovie the movie.]] Bonus points for it being right next door to the original.
* MemeticMutation:
** Mr. Krabs' understudy.[[labelnote:Explanation]]The image of Mr. Krabs looking at an identical understudy of him has become popular, with most describing it as his homunculus flesh puppet.[[/labelnote]]
** "Except you, you stay."[[labelnote:Explanation]]When Mr. Krabs fires all the cast and crew Squidward hired for the Krusty Krab's commercial, he makes a single exception for the morale-boosting clown. The bit became popular to edit in response to any fanbase disliking almost everything about a work except for one trait.[[/labelnote]]
** "Look Gary! There I am!"[[labelnote:Explanation]][=SpongeBob's=] overly-excited response to seeing a marginal amount of himself in the Krusty Krab's commercial, which became popular for referring to spotting yourself in a crowded photo/video or in the credits of something.[[/labelnote]]
** New Bran Flakes. Bold new taste. ''Bran Flakes''.[[labelnote:Explanation]]The BeigeProse and MundaneMadeAwesome delivery of the Bran Flakes cereal commercial became a popular clip on Website/YouTube in the later 2000s.[[/labelnote]]
** "That's what we've been waiting for!" "It's what we've wanted all along!"[[labelnote:Explanation]]The customers' reaction to [=SpongeBob=] accidentally dropping patties on the grill is commonly used in cases of fandoms rejoicing from news regarding their favorite films, shows, or video games.[[/labelnote]]
* SoBadItsGood: By all accounts, the "Striped Sweater" song isn't very good, being ''incredibly'' off-key, but that's what makes it so damn charming.

!!Can You Spare a Dime?:
* AccidentalAesop:
** Even if you absolutely hate your current job, it's a good idea to make sure you have a new one lined up -- or at least a serious plan for how to get one -- before quitting.
** If you're going to help someone, make sure you have a good grasp of their character first.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Does Squidward actually hate canned soup and newsprint, or is he just desperately making excuses to try and dodge [=SpongeBob=]'s attempts to force him to look for work?
* CatharsisFactor:
** Squidward painfully squeezing Mr. Krabs' eyes after the skinflint accuses him of taking a dime from him.
** [=SpongeBob=] exploding at both Squidward and Mr. Krabs.
* HilariousInHindsight: [=SpongeBob=] combines Squidward's aspirations of being a football player, king, and spaceman to create a [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs football-playing king in space]]... with a mustache. This combination is certainly bizarre, until ''VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey'' allowed for Mario to wear a football uniform and king's crown in tandem while also going into space in the Moon Kingdom. Combine this with Mario's signature mustache, and a football-playing king in space with a mustache is now a reality.
* JerkassWoobie: In the first half of the episode, Squidward is rendered uncharacteristically humble due to his unemployment rendering him homeless. He then reverts back to his normal arrogant self once Spongebob lets him take advantage of his hospitality.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Just seeing [=SpongeBob=] [[BewareTheNiceOnes losing his cool due to Squidward taking advantage of him and strangling Mr. Krabs]] is a sight to behold, considering how they both (especially Squidward) act towards him.
%%* NightmareFuel: We're like brothers. [[BodyHorror Only closer.]]
* OlderThanTheyThink: [=SpongeBob=] previously dubbed Mr. Krabs "crustaceous cheapskate" in anger in [[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS1E6MermaidManAndBarnacleBoyPickles "Pickles"]].
* SpecialEffectFailure: When [=SpongeBob=] forces Squidward out of his house, the pineapple is rendered using CGI. It awkwardly struggles to keep up with the hand-painted background as the camera pans.
