* {{Adorkable}}: Oleana had an [[https://kitameguire.tumblr.com/post/620063350288728064 endearingly dorky look]] as a young researcher. She still shows signs of this even in the present day, like invoking InsistentTerminology on the taxi driver when he confuses Gigantamaxing for Dynamaxing.
* EpilepticTrees: Due to a variety of factors and observations in the episode "Moonlight", [[note]]To name a few, the Ghost-type specialist Allister being a main character, Tommy and John were both in the hospital for unspecified reasons, the prevalence of Ghost-type Pokemon related to death and the afterlife in this episode, the fact that Tommy was easily able to sneak into John's room in the hospital, and the location of Tommy approaching Allister being a graveyard[[/note]] there's a theory floating around that Tommy [[DeadAllAlong died]] and Allister is using his abilities to help them talk to each other one last time. A hint to this is that Tommy was let out early, which means he's either completely healthy or he's already passed on. Shingo Yamashita debunked this on Twitter with an epilogue post featuring [[spoiler:John and Tommy starting their journey (meaning that both are discharged from the hospital). As a potential nod to this theory (or perhaps the episode as a whole), Tommy is portrayed with a Dreepy (which is part Ghost-type)]]
* GeniusBonus: Combine the names of the two leads, and you get the name Tommy John, a baseball pitcher who was famous for being the first player to undergo a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulnar_collateral_ligament_reconstruction medical procedure]] to reconstruct a ligament in the arm which is most commonly affected by repetitive throwing motions; the procedure was colloquially named after the player as a result.
* MemeticMolester: In the fourth episode, Rose staring at Nessa from an uncomfortably close distance gave fans bad vibes. This only adds onto his reputation from the games.
* {{Moe}}:
** Hop's [[SweetSheep Wooloo]]. It's so irresistibly cute! Wooloo even has girls fawning over it in-universe!
** Allister. His voice combined with his extremely shy mannerisms make him downright huggable.
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: The beautiful visuals and heartwarming stories just warms you up like a cup of hot cocoa.
* TearJerker: "Buddy" has Hop searching for Wooloo and apologizing for being so insensitive to it.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Sonia is shown in a few episodes yet never gets her own focus.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Each episode is absolutely gorgeous and full of details.
