* {{Adorkable}}: Birdwell. Her adorable laugh and burgeoning romance with Kronk qualifies her as one.
* AluminumChristmasTrees: The idea of an elected Empress (which is one of the schemes Yzma tries to pull off) obviously sounds ludicrous, but, in fact, there are some places that actually did elect monarchy, including the Holy Roman Empire, medieval Ireland, and early modern Poland. There are still elective monarchies, including Malaysia, Cambodia, and Wallis-and-Futuna, a French territory in the Pacific Ocean, which is divided into three traditional kingdoms each led by a king elected among the local aristocracy.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: One of the few highlights is that unlike the first, they gave Creator/EarthaKitt a song that didn't end up on the cutting room floor in the form of "Feel Like a Million". Maybe not as spectacular as "Snuff Out The Light" per se, but still pretty enjoyable in its own right, and one of the few things most viewers will agree is pretty good about the movie.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Kronk was always a MinionWithAnFInEvil, but the sequel shows he’s now a beloved figure in the kingdom since everybody has realized he’s a good guy through and through. He’s close enough to Pacha’s family and their village that they all immediately spring into action when they hear his father is coming, or at least go with it for Kronk’s sake.
* HilariousInHindsight: At one point in the movie, Kuzco halts the film to point out that Yzma's youth potions are fake, calling it "snake oil". Flash forward 18 years, and Creator/DavidSpade is set to host a show called ''Snake Oil'', in which players are challenged to deduce what products are as fake as the youth potions.
* {{Sequelitis}}: Much like ''[[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeastBellesMagicalWorld Beauty and the Beast 3]]'', ''[[WesternAnimation/CinderellaIIDreamsComeTrue Cinderella 2]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/AtlantisMilosReturn Atlantis 2]]'', fans weren't really keen on the follow up to such an original groundbreaking movie being a collection of three 20-minute episodes of an unproduced TV show. That unlike the other examples, [[WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewSchool there actually was a TV show]] only served to make this direction feel even less justified.
* SoOkayItsAverage: At best, it's seen as one of the most middle of the road DirectToVideo Disney sequels. Some say that Kronk works better in small doses and that it felt like three episodes connected instead of a spin-off movie. The fact that there's a fade-to-black 22 minutes into the movie -- the perfect spot for an episode break -- doesn't help.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Or, more specifically, waste of a character ''form''. Some viewers think Yzma should have stayed in her cat form from the end of the previous film due to the pure comedy gold that would come from having a high-voiced tiny cat in an antagonistic role, which fits with ''The Emperor's New Groove'''s type of humorous tone.
