* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Particularly "Just Dropped In" by Kenny Rogers and "Short Change Hero" by Music/TheHeavy.
* BadassDecay: Killer starts out relatively cool and intimidating but by the end confrontation, he's nothing more than a whining ManChild who wants Driver to acknowledge his "skills."
* CompleteMonster: [[DirtyOldMan Kenneth "Old Guy" Tyson]] is the most depraved member of [[spoiler:Detective Slade "Cop" Humphries]]'s crew. Introduced [[SnuffFilm recording the murders]] of Gary Cullen and his crew of bank robbers, Old Guy mockingly tells the remaining crewman, James "Driver" Cullen, to "smile for the camera". In the present day, Old Guy lures a teenage girl into his apartment. Sedating her [[SlippingAMickey with a drugged beverage]]--intent on [[SerialRapist raping]] and potentially [[SerialKiller murdering]] her on camera as he has done to at least 12 others--Old Guy is interrupted by the arrival of Driver, who confronts him over his involvement in Gary's death, causing Old Guy to beg for mercy.
* FridgeBrilliance: [[spoiler:A few times throughout the movie, Cicero would make a revelation about the unraveling plot, to which Cop would reply with a lukewarm "Yeah, maybe." After seeing the entire movie, you realize that he knew those things and was discouraging her from looking further into it and discovering him.]]
* TearJerker: There are multiple moments in the film which are gut-wrenching:
** Driver reveals the location of his heist crew's loot in a bid to have his brother, Gary, spared by a rival gang. He is shown to be distressed, and he is shown to apologize profusely to Gary, who reassures him. Then, to twist the knife even further, Gary has his throat slit despite Driver's efforts.
