2	** [[AlphaBitch Melissa]], big time. For about half the viewers, Melissa was an [[EnsembleDarkhorse entertaining, brilliant, manipulative bitch who owned the screen]]. For the other half, [[TheScrappy she played the part too well and couldn't die soon enough]]!
3	** Nick also falls here. Some see him as one of the worst leading men in the series who felt the relationship between him and Tina was unnatural and forced, that he had a bland backstory and was poorly acted. On the other hand, others think it’s one of the better characters of the series who thought he and Tina had good chemistry together and appreciate his willingness to search for his cousin and friends when things go FromBadToWorse, as well as seeing right through [[AlphaBitch Melissa]]’s scheme easier than the other teens
4	* CommonKnowledge: Jason does in fact use a gas powered weapon in this movie, but it's a tree trimmer, [[HockeyMaskAndChainsaw not a chainsaw]].
5	* ContestedSequel: Depending on who you ask, this is usually considered to be either the last good ''Friday the 13th'' film or the very start of the downfall for the series.
6	* EnsembleDarkhorse: {{M\|eganekko}}addy is remembered for being one of the few nicer victims of the film when compared to the unlikable cast of teens.
7	* FanNickname:
8	** The film is called "Jason vs. Film/{{Carrie\|1976}}" due to Tina's psychic powers.
9	** It has also been called "Fri''gay'' the 13th" due to a number of the cast being homosexual.
10	** Some fans have also jokingly called this entry ''The No Blood'' due to how terribly cut down the kills are.
11	* FranchiseOriginalSin: Having unlikable heel characters so the audience can root Jason on isn’t a new concept to this series. However, the previous films still made an effort to balance them out by showcasing likable teens, some of them as good friends even and gave them enough establishing character moments so their deaths made some impact on the viewers. This film takes the AssholeVictim concept and cranks it up to eleven by making just about every character, even the teens who the audience is supposed to like (aside from Tina, Nick, Maddy, and Tina’s mom) as stupid, snarky, and mean spirited towards each other [[EightDeadlyWords to the point where it’s hard to care about anybody that dies in this movie]].
12	* FridgeHorror: Is Dr. Crews denying the idea of Tina having visions of the future because he's skeptic, or is he doing it to further break her down so he can control her more easily by convincing her and her mom that she's just crazy?
13	* HilariousInHindsight: Eddie comes up with a concept of "star mummy" for his science fiction writings, which isn't that far off from "[[Film/JasonX space zombie]]".
14	* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: Jason is a badass icon of horror who is undeniably cool and the main attraction of the film. In contrast, Dr Crews is a completely unlikeable prick who comes across as far more hateable than Jason, likewise with some of the teens(particularly Melissa).
15	* JustHereForGodzilla: With the first hour of the movie bringing nothing new to the franchise, just copying the plot from part 4, and the death scenes being censored because of the MPAA, most fans watch this movie just to see Jason being beaten by Tina in the final half hour.
16	* MoralEventHorizon: Dr. Crews had already proven himself to be a bastard long before, but he went right over this the second he [[spoiler: forced Tina's mother to take a killing blow from Jason in order to protect himself]].
17	* NarmCharm:
18	** Every single moment of Creator/LarParkLincoln's performance as Tina. The expressions on her face when she uses her powers need to be seen to be believed.
19	** Considering the things thrown at his way in the previous films, Jason flipping his shit at the sight of Tina's powers doing their thing should be very silly. But it works because it helps to sell her as a threat against him.
20	* OlderThanTheyThink: The infamous sleeping bag murder is very similar to one of the kills in the 1980 film ''Film/{{Night of the Demon\|1980}}''.
21	* OneSceneWonder: In a object-based example, Jason's weed hacker of doom, used oh so perfectly on Dr. Crews. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asyV7Uz6Uao Even better in the uncut version.]] (It's the second death in the clip.)
22	* RootingForTheEmpire: Even by the standards of the franchise, almost all of the characters in the film are horrible human beings or completely alienated from what is happening, with the protagonist Tina being the only exception. It is not difficult for the viewer to quickly hope that Jason kills everyone.
23	* {{Sequelitis}}: The film is divisive, but most of the fans at least agree that with the plot being a mere remake of Part 4, most of the cast being unlikeable and all the death scenes censored by the MPAA, there is not much left to enjoy here besides the very stunt heavy and over the top finale, and an interesting main protagonist in Tina.

25	** The sleeping bag murder.
26	** The climax of the movie, in which Tina uses her powers to defeat Jason in the most brutal and humiliating ways possible.
27	* SoOkayItsAverage: Amongst fans who don’t love or hate it as others in the fandom. It’s not hated, as some love the addition of Creator/KaneHodder as Jason and appreciate Tina and the final fight at the end, but also felt that the film gets too dull at the 2nd act and that it’s use of {{Asshole Victim}}s, excessively watered-down kills and rehash of [[Film/FridayThe13thTheFinalChapter a more well beloved sequel’s structure]] hurt it from being one of the better entries.
28	* SpecialEffectFailure: There's a couple shots late in the film when Jason is wandering around the teens' cabin where Kane Hodder's natural eyes can be seen in his mask.
29	* SpiritualAdaptation: This film could easily be retitled "Jason vs. Literature/{{Carrie}}".
30	* TearJerker:
31	** The opening scene where Tina screams to her father "''I wish you were dead!''", and as the dock begins to break she starts crying and screaming "''I'm Sorry Daddy! I'm Sorry!''" and her father drowns.
32	** Tina returns to the pier later on and cries when she remembers the events, apologising to her father over his death.
33	** [[spoiler: Maddy's death is this since unlike most of the teenagers in this film she's an absolute sweetheart who dies scared and alone.]]
34	** In addition [[spoiler: the death of Amanda is heartbreaking considering she's a supportive and caring mother who dies because of Dr Crews cowardness, and Tina loses the only person besides Nick who actually cares about her, because of a HateSink prick like Crews, [[TearDryer thankfully he meets his end very soon after ]] although it goes back to sad right after when Tina finds Amanda's body, and even worse when Tina breaks down after her first fight with Jason in Nick's arms over her mother's murder.]]
35	* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: A common complaint that fans have with the film is that, story wise, it plays out too much like a poor man’s ''[[Film/FridayThe13thTheFinalChapter The Final Chapter]]'', from the concept of teens going to a cabin by the lake to party, to the opening montage of clips set to a spooky narration before the film starts, one kill has Jason throwing somebody out a window (they even reshot that death at the same house from ''The Final Chapter''), Maddy is seen wearing a blue dress similar to what Trish wore, heck they even use [[StockFootageFailure obvious stock footage of a tent in the rain from The Final Chapter at one point despite no rain being present in the film]]. The only ''major'' difference is [[spoiler:instead of a 12 year old boy, it’s a teenage girl with telekinetic powers that defeats Jason]], and more characters you’re rooting Jason to kill. The fact that [[WordOfGod it was a request by Frank Mancuso Jr. to copy that film’s structure]] only adds to the criticism.
36	* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The idea of a masked serial killer who never speaks and has a very ''vaguely'' defined personality going up against a person with telepathic powers... your mind immediately leaps to the numerous possibilities. Maybe we could see them battling ''inside'' of Jason's head as he's forced to confront visages from his past, maybe the cast of previous films could have returned as visions Jason can't rid himself of. Maybe we could've seen more of his childhood, or learned some new horrible truth about his past, or even just seen Jason with his mother, something none of these films have ''ever'' actually shown us... but instead all we get is some objects being thrown around, a dock breaking and ''a person being brought back from the dead'', pretty much just to be a DeusExMachina during the finale.
37	* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: [[LovableNerd "Lovable" nerd Eddie]]. Despite efforts to make him sympathetic through comic relief and being used by [[AlphaBitch Melissa]], it's pretty hard to feel for a guy who mocked a mentally/emotionally unstable teenage girl (just to get in Melissa's pants). [[spoiler: [[AssholeVictim Not many people were sad to see him go.]]]]
38	* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome:
39	** Jason's rotting appearance (you can see his ''spine'') and Tina's psychic powers. Also, the animation of Jason's mask being lit from behind and then cracking in half in the opening credits.
40	** The unmasked Jason's make up is very heavy and detailed, and despite that, his face is the most expressive it's ever been and on-screen for almost the entire act of the film, instead of only used for a few glamour shots and barely emoting.
41	* TheWoobie: Tina. She can't control her powers, accidentally caused her father's death, is manipulated by a greedy doctor, is humiliated by neighbors, and has her mother murdered by Jason. Oh, and Jason tries to kill her and the man she loves all night long. It is impossible not to give a shout of happiness when we finally see her learning to use her powers to give Jason his well deserved punishment.
