1* GeniusBonus: Polybius was the name of a Greek philosopher who spoke of how important it is for a historian to check their sources. Adding to the historical Polybius, the [[MeaningfulName name means]] "[[VideoGameLives Many Lives]]" and that he was a historian from Arcadia.
2* NewerThanTheyThink: Though the game is reported to be from 1981, the oldest mention of the game dates back to the year 2000. Part of the mythology of the game is that it was discussed on Usenet in TheNineties, and even the game's page on coinop.org claims to date back to 1998[[note]]This is almost certainly the result of a database being populated with a default "page created date" value for all preexisting webpages, though the site's proprietor (and the myth's originator) Kurt Koller has since chosen to run with the 1998 creation date as it obfuscates the myth's origins further[[/note]].
