1	* FirstInstallmentWins: The first game is usually most positively received critically, unlike its sequel, ''Frenzy'', which slips under the radar at best and is considered too difficult at worst.

6	* GameBreaker: When the game starts, the software doesn't generate each room randomly as the player enters it, but rather every single room in the game world. Which means if the player loops back they can enter rooms they previously had played. If they find a sequence of easy rooms which connect around to each other, they can play the game pretty much indefinitely with little chance of dying, allowing for very high scores.
7	* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Getting a robot's shot to [[HitboxDissonance harmlessly slip into]] [[FloatingLimbs the gap where the player's neck should be]].
8	* MemeticBadass: Evil Otto. [[KillerRabbit Do NOT trust that smiley face graphic--he WILL get you]]. According to an urban legend, [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou he can even get you in the real world]].
9	* NarmCharm: Evil Otto may be a bouncing ''smiley face''...but he's still an evil, omnicidal thing that will kill you if you don't hurry on out.

11	* OvershadowedByControversy: The original game is infamously known for the incident where a player died of a heart attack immediately after a session of it. Though he was already a dead man walking[[note]]He had scarring on his heart tissue, meaning any amount of exertion could be fatal, which it was because he walked a very long distance through the snow to the arcade[[/note]], it was blamed on the game, and contributed to another urban legend about ''yet another'' teenager dying, making it so that ''Berzerk'' would be most remembered for that. Amusingly, the actual incident of murder involving the game fell under the radar.
