1[[quoteright:350:]]²²Elimination Chamber is a Wrestling/{{WWE}} pay-per-view which replaced Wrestling/NoWayOutWrestling on 2010 and has been a staple of the calendar ever since (with the exception of 2016).²²The name of the event comes from the eponymous {{gimmick match|es}}. The match was created by Triple H and was introduced by Wrestling/EricBischoff in November 2002. It features a large chain-linked circular steel structure, which encloses the ring. The chamber's floor is platformed over the ringside area which elevates it to ring level. Within the chamber are four inner enclosures outside each ring corner. The original structure was 16 ft high (now 26 ft), 36 ft in diameter, weighed over 10 short tons, and comprised 2 mi, and 6 short tons of chain.²²While similar to Wrestling/HellInACell in nature, the Elimination Chamber match is a multiple participant match, wherein two participants begin the match in the ring as the remaining four are held within each inner enclosure and are released into the match every five minutes. There are no count-outs or disqualifications. The objective is to eliminate each opponent from the match via pinfall or submission.²²The concept of the pay-per-view event is that one or two main event matches are contested inside the Elimination Chamber, either with championships or future opportunities at championships at stake.²----²[[foldercontrol]]²²[[folder:Elimination Chamber matches outside of the PPV]]²* ''Wrestling/SurvivorSeries 2002'' -- Wrestling/ShawnMichaels d. For the most part, the world title (WWE / World Heavyweight Championship) were always defended inside the chamber, but the 2015 event marked the first time in history that the Tag Team Championships and later the Intercontinental Championship were the only titles defended inside the chamber.²* TheBadGuyWins:²** 2010: Wrestling/ChrisJericho defeated Wrestling/CMPunk (with Luke Gallows and Serena), John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth and Wrestling/TheUndertaker (c) to win the World Heavyweight Championship, after Wrestling/ShawnMichaels superkicked the Undertaker.²** 2013: Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) defeated Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Kane, Wrestling/MarkHenry and Wrestling/RandyOrton to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.²** 2014: Randy Orton (c) defeated Cesaro (with Zeb Colter), Wrestling/{{Christian}}, Daniel Bryan, John Cena and Sheamus to retain the WWE Undisputed Title.²** 2015: Wrestling/TheNewDay (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods) (c) defeated The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor), The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara), Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) (with El Torito), The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neil) and Tyson Kidd and Cesaro (with Natalya) to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship.²** 2017: Wrestling/BrayWyatt defeated John Cena (c), Wrestling/TheMiz, Wrestling/BaronCorbin, Wrestling/AJStyles, and Wrestling/DeanAmbrose to win the WWE Title for the first time in his career.²** 2018: Alexa Bliss (c) defeated Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose to retain the RAW Women's Championship in the first-ever women's Elimination Chamber match.²** 2019: Daniel Bryan (c) defeated Wrestling/AJStyles, Wrestling/JeffHardy, Wrestling/KofiKingston, Wrestling/RandyOrton, and Wrestling/SamoaJoe to retain the WWE Title.²* CoolVersusAwesome: Wrestling/TheShield vs. Wrestling/TheWyattFamily in Elimination Chamber 2014. The crowd was eating it up and were chanting "This is awesome!" even before the bell rang!²* BlackEyesOfEvil: Wrestling/{{Batista}}, who was a heel at that time, has one in the 2010 poster with the ceiling of the elimination chamber centered on it.²* CoversAlwaysLie: The 2013 promotional poster features Wrestling/CMPunk, Wrestling/TheRock, Wrestling/JohnCena, Wrestling/{{Sheamus}}, Wrestling/{{Ryback}}, and Wrestling/BigShow in the chamber, despite that the six didn't compete in the chamber match.²* OffTheRails: The 2015 singles Chamber match for the vacated Intercontinental Championship was thrown into chaos when Wrestling/WadeBarrett threw Wrestling/DolphZiggler into the door of Wrestling/MarkHenry's pod, only for Ziggler to go ''through'' it instead. With no plausible reason why he'd remain in his pod (particularly as Barret had been antagonising him for a while), Henry came storming out and laid about Barrett... a long, ''long'' time before he was supposed to, completely ruining the script for the match, and leaving Henry standing around awkwardly with nothing to do or trying to fit in somewhere after Barrett was eliminated. Ziggler [[TheReliableOne the ring general]] took charge of the remaining guys and tried to improvise a serviceable match out of what they had to work with, bumping like a loon to give Henry, Wrestling/{{Ryback}}, Wrestling/{{Sheamus}} and Wrestling/RTruth something to do on the way to Ryback's eventual victory. Despite his heroic efforts, the match is still considered one of the worst, if not ''the'' worst EC match of all time.²* OneManArmy: At Elimination Chamber 2018, Wrestling/BraunStrowman pinned five of the other six participants in the Chamber match before getting pinned himself by Wrestling/RomanReigns.²* YourPrincessIsInAnotherCastle: Wrestling/JohnCena wins the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber...only for Wrestling/VinceMcMahon to announce that he will face Wrestling/{{Batista}} for the title. With a spear and a Batista Bomb, Batista beats Cena for the Title.²[[/folder]]²²[[folder:Elimination Chamber matches outside of the PPV]]²* TheBadGuyWins:²** In Wrestling/SummerSlam 2003, Wrestling/TripleH defeated Wrestling/{{Goldberg}}, Wrestling/ChrisJericho, Wrestling/ShawnMichaels, Wrestling/RandyOrton, and Wrestling/KevinNash to retain the World Heavy Championship.²** In New Year's Revolution 2005, Triple H defeated Randy Orton, Wrestling/{{Batista}}, Chris Jericho, Wrestling/ChrisBenoit, and Wrestling/{{Edge}}.²** In Wrestling/NoWayOut 2009, Wrestling/{{Edge}} defeated John Cena (c), Wrestling/ReyMysterio, Chris Jericho, Mike Knox and Kane.²* OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain: The final two men in the inaugural Elimination Chamber match in 2002 were then World Heavyweight Champion Wrestling/TripleH and his (at the time) estranged BigBrotherMentor Wrestling/ShawnMichaels.²[[/folder]]²----
