''The Mummy Mystery: Starring Little Monster Private Eye'' is a point-and-click children's game made by Creator/{{Infogrames}} in 2001. It stars Little Monster [[PrivateDetective Private Eye]] and his [[GratuitousAnimalSidekick faithful talking Kerploppus]] that is simply called "Detective Kerploppus," created by Creator/MercerMayer (whom also created Literature/LittleCritter, and the game was produced and released at the same time as a similar game featuring Little Critter was made, ''VideoGame/LittleCritterAndTheGreatRace''). It is more or less a straight-forward AdventureGame compared to the game it preceded, ''VideoGame/TheSmellyMystery''.

The story involves Little Monster Private Eye and Detective Kerploppus being called onto a case where Professor Pickle is stuck at the Tomb of Thanxfurnuten.

!!Tropes in ''The Mummy Mystery'':
* AllThereInTheManual: In the game, there is a book that details the backstory about Thanxfurnuten.
* AnimationBump: The character animation in this game is much smoother than its' predecessor. In addition to the cutscenes, animated sprites of Little Monster, Kerploppus and the other characters are utilized in many screens.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: Thanxfurnuten sounds like the name of a Pharaoh but it is actually "Thanks for nothin'".
* BondGunBarrel: Parodied in the opening titles, with Little Monster firing a water pistol.
* CallBack:
** Detective Kerploppus answers the phone and says "Little Monster Private Eye headquarters. Detective Kerploppus speaking."
** Little Monster tells the caller that they will arrive in two shakes of a toad's tail.
** Little Monster and Detective Kerploppus do the "after you" gag near the museum.
* CatchPhrase: Detective Kerploppus's "Righty-o, Chief Inspector!"
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Little Monster and Detective Kerploppus don't mention the events of the Smelly Mystery or the identity of the Evil Smell Switcher.
* ExtremelyShortTimeSpan: The game mostly takes place in one day.
* FinaleTitleDrop: Little Monster said the title at the very end of the game.
* FreeRangeChildren: Little Monster is supposedly a kid, and yet he is allowed to go all the way to ''Egypt'' to solve a mystery without adult supervision.
* GottaCatchThemAll: Little Monster and Detective Kerploppus have to find all five magic rings to unlock the tomb.
* ItMayHelpYouOnYourQuest: Many objects found in the game end up useful later on in the game.
* MiniGame: The mugshot game.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: One path has a ring in the Nile Shrine, with a hungry crocodile in the way. Feeding it with a spicy kebab will get it to leave.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Detective Kerploppus's voice is clearly based off Creator/SeanConnery.
* OhCrap: Professor Pickle's reaction when he sees that the door of the tomb is closing.
* {{Pun}}: Little Monster commented that the professor has gotten himself in a pickle.
* RiddlingSphinx: The duo encounter one that gives them an idea to put in an item to get one of the five rings.
* SequelGoesForeign: This sequel to the Smelly Mystery game takes place in Egypt.
* ShoutOut: Detective Kerploppus mentions seeing a movie called [[Film/{{Casablanca}} Monsterblanca]].
* StockAudioClip:
** Professor Pickle describing the Tomb of Thanxfurnuten has been recycled in the end.
** There are generic Creator/HannaBarbera StockSoundEffects heard once the scarabs are found.
* VocalDissonance: Even though Little Monster is presumably a kid, he has a low-pitched adult man's voice, and it sounds quite jarring.
