Hello, I'm Unknownlight, or "UL". I've been a reader of this site since around early 2008. I don't edit much (at least when compared to the amount of time I spend on this site); most of my "contributions" consist of fixing wiki markup, formatting, or spelling/grammar. I primarily just go on {{Wiki Walk}}s when I have the time.

You can find me much more often in the forums. Again, I'm not ''that'' consistent of a poster, but I certainly post more than I edit.

I am an awful SerialTweaker, both in the wiki and in forum posts. Yes, I know we have a preview button (and I use it all the time—otherwise there'd be a lot more pointless edits of mine than there are), the problem is that I often think of a better way to word something two or three minutes after posting, and I'm not content to just leave it be.

%%I have the very unpopular opinion that trope pages shouldn't have examples at all, just a description (work pages should stay as they are, of course). However, I am entirely aware this will never happen. For that matter, it also ''should'' never happen, as it'd almost certainly dramatically decrease TV Tropes's popularity, which is always bad when popularity equals ad money.

And... that's all!

'''My trope page for [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/gallery/11618471 Brawl Snapshot Comics]] (or [[AWorldwidePunomenon BS Comics]]), so far. Spoilers for future plotlines are included here, don't read if you read the comics.'''

* AbortedArc: The "Only Just Begun" arc, which ended rather unceremoniously. [[spoiler: The {{Ice Climber}}s did re-take control of Ike in Comic %99, though it doesn't last long.]]
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: Many comic titles are like this. There's [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Macho-Match-199953646 Macho Match]], [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Babble-Battle-194609712 Babble Battle]], and [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Fabulous-Fun-186163999 Fabulous Fun]], just to name a few.
* AuthorGuestSpot: You never see the author himself, though. All his speech panels simply point upward to the sky.
* BookEnds: The comic ending the Dark Link Arc (%75) [[spoiler:is extremely similar to the comic that Link first appeared in (%2), even down to some of the dialogue and camera angles.]]
* BeatPanel: It's actually ''difficult'' to find a strip that doesn't include at least one.
* BrevityIsWit: Inverted, at times this comic seems to think that the longer something is the funnier. The longest strip was a rather stunning 1300 words.
* BrickJoke: "I'm still crying."
* ButtMonkey: Arguably, {{Wario|Ware}}.
* CanonDiscontinuity: Officially, all single-frame comics are non-canon. However, this was decided retroactively, [[{{Retcon}} when a single-frame comic got in the way of the plot.]]
* CannotSpitItOut: Ike could not admit his love for Pit at first, [[spoiler:but only because the author was meddling.]]
* ChekhovsGun: The Box from Comic %2 [[spoiler: [[{{Irony}} was used to trap Dark Link]] seventy-three comics later.]]
* ContinuityPorn: There's elements of this throughout the entire series, but the best example would have to be [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Final-Fox-Part-3-157981940 Final Fox - Part 3]].
* CurseCutShort: Used often enough that ''not'' cutting a "Well shit" short in one comic ''was the joke.''
* DudeLooksLikeALady: [[KidIcarus Pit]], according to [[FireEmblem Ike]].
* EnsembleCast: The protagonist in the early comics was clearly Fox, but after the end of the "Dare Arc" it turned into this.
* FirstLawOfResurrection: [[spoiler:[[StarFox Fox]] is brought back from the dead so he can take part in the GrandFinale.]] Otherwise this is averted, with all characters being killed after [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Author-s-Note-180602560 Author's Note]] staying dead.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: "The Doomsday Clock has struck 6:00"
* FridgeBrilliance: Sonic has been shown to be a proponent of "the circle of life" in [[SonicStorybookSeries Sonic and the Black Knight]], meaning that he knows and doesn't mind that [[WhoWantsToLiveForever everything will eventually come to an end]]. [[spoiler:No wonder he's the only character who doesn't mind the end of the comics!]]
* FridgeLogic: If Ike didn't know Pit was male, why did he call him a "dude" in [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Act-Now-148190053 the Christmas comic?]]
* GenreSavvy: Pretty much every single character. They know they're characters in comics, and are perfectly willing to take advantage of every cliché they can think of.
* GilliganCut
* [[spoiler:HowWeGotHere: The very first comic shows part of the fight between Mario and Sonic that doesn't actually occur until the very end of the series.]]
* KilledOffForReal: In the early comics, death was never permanent and characters that had died would often reappear in later comics as if nothing had happened. Once the characters had achieved enough GenreSavviness that they realized they didn't actually have to fight the BigBad [[{{Zelda}} Dark Link]] because they were all practically immortal, the author changed the rules and decided to go in the complete opposite direction and make ''every'' death permanent, with no hope of resurrection. By the end of the series, slightly more than a quarter of the cast ends up being killed off.
* [[spoiler:KillEmAll]]: It's heavily implied this is how it ends, but it's unclear enough to allow for alternate interpretations.
* NeckSnap: [[MetalGearSolid Snake]] does this to [[SonicTheHedgehog Sonic]] in one of the early comics. Sonic [[IGotBetter got better]] though.
* NoFourthWall: It's a webcomic. What do you expect?
* OffscreenTeleportation: [[InvokedTrope A technique that can be learned]]. It's performed by "stepping out one of the holes in the broken fourth wall and then breaking back in once you've reached your destination." [[spoiler:The author later banned this technique because it was becoming too much of a GameBreaker.]]
* OnlySaneMan: A few characters think they're this, most notably Wario and Fox. Whether they actually ''are'' is [[NotSoAboveItAll another matter entirely]].
* RapeAsComedy: Nana on Fox in one of the early comics. [[OldShame The author apparently regrets it]].
* RealityEnsues: [[{{Metroid}} Samus]] goes into Morph Ball mode in one comic. [[{{Understatement}} It does not end well]].
* RealMenWearPink: [[FZero Captain Falcon]].
* RunningGag:
** Long-winded "explanations" for absolutely ''anything''. Mocked rather aggressively in [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-Brevity-is-Wit-203439693 this comic.]]
** Luigi's "There's an app for that!"
** Characters becoming trapped in the Box.
* SanitySlippage: Arguably, the audience, reading the comic.
* SelfDeprecation: Wario often voices the author's criticism's ''about the comic itself''. A two-part comic was devoted to it.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: [[TheLegendOfZelda Toon Link]] begins talking like this after being hit on the head with [[{{Kirby}} King Dedede]]'s hammer.
* SmartBall: It gets tossed to Sonic a good number of times, especially during the Dark Link Arc.
* {{Squick}}:
** "I like Toad! What do you think he and I are doing under my dress?"
** "So you wanna have dinner? How's [[DeadBabyComedy human caviar]] sound?"
* SpeechbubblesInterruption: Toon Link does this to Ness in one comic.
* StatusQuoIsGod: Played entirely straight, lampshaded, and even referenced by name.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: PlayedForLaughs in [[http://notknownlight.deviantart.com/art/BS-Comics-And-So-I-Weep-166688214 And So, I Weep]], in which Popo is able to spout a multi-panel wall of text while falling off a cliff.
* TemptingFate: "Oh wait, I just tempted fate. [[OhCrap Oh crap]]."
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: [[ExploitedTrope Exploited]] by Sonic, who explains this trope when asked why he didn't want to explain his plan while the audience was watching.
* WallOfText: The comic can get ''very'' wordy at times, although it's often PlayedForLaughs.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse:
** What happened to Luigi referring to himself in the third-person?
** What happened to Captain Falcon's disorder that forced him to precede all his sentences with the word "Falcon"?
* WhoWritesThisCrap: Wario would love to know.
* TheWoobie: Ivysaur and Squirtle.
