* ActingForTwo: There's a lot of this in the third game, thanks to having a large cast (for an [=LBP=] game at least) and only a small number of voice actors:
** Lewis [=MacLeod=] voices both Captain Pud and Oleg.
** Lorelei King voices both Felica and Miss Elena.
** John Guerrasio voices two of the three fort guards form "High Stakes Heist", the third being voiced by Glen Wrage.
** Creator/TaraStrong voices both Coach Rock and Vera Oblonsky.
** In the second game, Jules de Jongh voices both Eve in the main story and Franchise/WonderWoman in the DLC.
** Finally, Peter Serafinowicz voices ''three'' characters: Papal Maché, Dr. Maxim, and El Jeff.
* ActorAllusion: In the danger tools tutorial in the second game, Creator/StephenFry says that an unlethalised object is "Literature/MostlyHarmless", and remember [[Film/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy2005 what else he narrated...]]
* BreakthroughHit: For Creator/MediaMolecule.
* BTeamSequel: The third game is made by Sumo Digital, Tarsier Studios and [=XDev=] instead of Creator/MediaMolecule.
* CastingGag: In the bonus Platform/PlaystationNetwork tutorial, [[Creator/StephenFry The Narrator]] says that he once made a rather fine TV series about America. He did, in fact, it's called ''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Stephen Fry in America]]''.
* CelebrityVoiceActor: Creator/HughLaurie, in his first video game role. Creator/StephenFry counts too.
* CreatorsApathy: [[http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?95276-ConfusedCartman-Why-I-left-where-I-went-and-why-I-m-not-returning According to the game's Community Coordinator]], a lot of the ''[=LittleBigPlanet=] Karting'' developers didn't care about the game, and some even hated making games in general.
* DescendedCreator: The Negativitron is voiced by Jeremy Mayne, one of the game's musicians. Similarly, Sean Brawn in the Platform/PlaystationVita version is voiced by writer and story director Dave Mervik.
* DevelopmentGag: [[NoDeathRun Acing]] the first game's final level unlocks a costume based on [[http://littlebigplanet.wikia.com/wiki/Yellowhead Yellowhead]], the game's protagonist [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQLDNmllbiU in its early ''Craftworld'' form.]]
* FakeAmerican: Black British actor Colin [=McFarlane=] as the American-accented Avalon Centrifuge.
* FanCommunityNickname: Gadders, or [=LittleBigPlanetians=].
* FandomLifeCycle: At one point it was a 3-bordering-on-4, but it's since cooled back down to a 3.
* MarketBasedTitle: Some level names in ''[=LittleBigPlanet PSP=]'' change depending on the localization: "High on Rugs" vs. "Rugs and Kisses" or "Brazilian Whacks" vs. "Golissmo!".
* ModelDissonance: Most objects don't have a back, because the game is a TwoAndAHalfD platformer. You can use a glitch to twist objects around, revealing this.
* OrphanedReference: Originally the prizes were going to be collected from Prize ''Eggs'', not Prize Bubbles. There's still one glaringly obvious remnant of this throughout the series, however; upon collecting every Prize Bubble in a level (and when receiving prizes from the scoreboard for collecting every prize, if applicable), the game plays a cock-a-doodle-doo sound, which is completely random for Prize Bubbles but would've made perfect sense for Prize Eggs.
* PromotedFanboy: Some of the people who are working with Sumo Digital on [=LittleBigPlanet=] 3 are some of the best creators from the community.
** To name an example, [[http://lbp.me/u/HFMiles HFMiles]] was asked to work on the 1.08 patch. Humorously, he hacked the game apart and gave the community objects that they either weren't supposed to get, were probably supposed to get, or definitely supposed to get but didn't.
* RereleasedForFree:
** The first and PSP games were both given away for free as part of Sony's "Welcome Back" promotion after the 2011 PSN outage.
** Several of the games have been given for free through [=PlayStation=] Plus:
*** ''[=LittleBigPlanet=] 2'' was available from June 5th, 2012 through June 11th, 2013.
*** ''Karting'' picked up where ''[=LBP2=]'' left off, being available from June 11th, 2013 until June 3rd, 2014.
*** The [=PS4=] version of ''[=LittleBigPlanet=] 3'' was on the free list from February 7th, 2017 until March 7th, 2017.
*** ''Sackboy: A Big Adventure'' was given out on [=PS4=] and [=PS5=] to all PS Plus subscribers from April 4th, 2023 to May 1st, 2023. The game was also made available to download from the Game Catalog available to PS Plus Extra and Premium members roughly around the same time.
* RoleReprise:
** Creator/StephenFry reprises his role as the Narrator in all the games.
** Robbie Stevens and Judith Sweeney reprise their respective roles as SelfDemonstrating/LarryDaVinci and Victoria von Bathysphere in ''[=LittleBigPlanet=] 3''.
* {{Vaporware}}: ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpcfzR1xdMg LittleBigPlanet HUB]]'', a free-to-play installment in the ''[=LittleBigPlanet=]'' series, was announced back in 2013. Whenever [[WordOfGod Steven Isbell]] was asked about it, he responded that the team was working on the Creator/DCComics DLC (in 2013) or [=LittleBigPlanet=] 3 (in 2014) or that there was just no new info. Content from that game later appeared in [=LBP3's=] Seaside Surprise DLC in 2016, and the Challenges feature that was set to make an appearance in ''HUB'' was added to [=LBP3=] in an update, making it highly unlikely that the game is still a thing.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** There is [[https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/comments/nia4o4/some_lbp_concept_costumes_i_found/ concept art of what were likely planned costumes]] for one of the games, all of which besides one are evidently based off of other videogame characters including a costume based on [[Videogame/Portal2 P-Body]] and [[Videogame/KatamariDamacy the Prince]], but strangely enough, the other videogame based costume is evidently based off of [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]]. Given Sony and Nintendo were (and still are) rivals at the time, the chances of such a costume being put into the final product would've been ''very'' unlikely. Though this ''could've'' meant that [=LittleBigPlanet=] may have been considered for other platforms with the Mario costume perhaps being a Nintendo console exclusive before the games became a Sony exclusive property, or it could've just been drawn as a joke from the artists.
** The first game originally had four extra worlds planned; one of them, [[GangplankGalleon English Seaside]], became rather infamous for appearing frequently in prerelease footage even pretty close to the game's release. The other three[[labelnote:*]][[TheWildWest American Midwest]], [[MetropolisLevel Japanese Akihabara District]], and [[CircusOfFear Russian Theatre]][[/labelnote]] were shrouded in mystery for a while until a post-release build of the game uncovered in April 2021 miraculously contained assets for all four of them.[[labelnote:*]]It should also be noted that the ''music'' for all four of these would later come as DLC, which explains why there was only one music pack; there wasn't any music left to reuse.[[/labelnote]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afjZUFRNLqc The first]] level seen in the video was originally supposed to be a part of the final boss fight in the second game.
** Avalon was supposed to be evil, and basically everything at E3 2010 changed after the music sequencer.
** In the third game, the Ziggurat was originally going to have its own Contraption Challenge where you build a boat. The character from it was the Marina costume.
** [[http://youtu.be/ggeLI0NMlfI This]] trailer for an early version of [=LBP3=] showcases a lot of differences of the final game, such as different levels and areas, a powerup called "The Brolly" that lets Sackboy glide and ride on ziplines, a different look for Velociporters, a currency in the form of Buttons that can be given to a weird creature called "The Spiv" in exchange for items, a different quest log, new [=NPCs=] that didn't make it into the game, and a noticeable lack of the 3 new playable characters that were introduced in the game proper.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er8nZjItUSg&app=desktop The third game]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bix_KFZS8iU has a lot of]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdpyHY1awd4 interesting changes]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgN6T55pfEUbetween the Alpha]] and the final. Some of which includes:
*** Newton was voiced by Creator/RikMayall, and was constantly using the model that [[DemonicPossession Evil Newton]] uses in the final. Here, he's evil from the beginning, [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments with him gifting Sackboy a portrait of himself on a winners podium, above Sackboy and a cactus.]] In fact, it's much more clear that Newton's flying device in this version is a can opener, as more detail is given to it. He also supposedly enslaved a bunch of generic Sackpeople to run machines in the Ziggurat. It's likely his character was rewritten due to Mayall's death.
*** The Sackpocket is directly connected to one's popit, unlike the final.
*** The first world had its own hub world, called Stitchem Green. It was a rural town, run by a Mayor Cow. More characters are present, with a mix of the cardboard people and Sackbots as [=NPCs=].
*** [=ZomZom=] the Far Out was to give the player access to different dimensions to enter, heavily implying Bunkum was its own dimension compared to the Craftverse.
*** A few of the songs are changed to the second game's soundtrack, along with unknown pieces.
*** There seems to be a lot more levels in the Alpha than the final version, with a huge chunk of levels being unused.
*** The Stitchem Manor guardian originally didn't get destroyed after the first boss, it actually rised out of the ground after its fight for more action...[[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments until a teacup slammed down on its head.]] Cue RecordScratch.
*** Nana Pud appeared to lack any eyes whatsoever, just seeming to be dim yellow buttons. A [[https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/38419275_10155406112391831_8433758736325017600_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=cdbe9c&_nc_ohc=mqXbuDUo3ngAX9-xUn6&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfBDibSRceoFIm1-m5JBfO6XP0RTCqwqBR0mfoJXY_Cj2A&oe=643EB396 piece of concept art]] shows she also had another considered design somewhat reminiscent of Yubaba from ''Anime/SpiritedAway''.
*** At one point, you would have to save the Creator Curators of the past games, including Larry Da Vinci.
* WorkingTitle:
** ''Craftworld, Yellowhead, Brainfluff, Jamsacks, Bonsai, [=LittleBigLand=], [=LittleBigWorld=], [=LittleBigBang=],'' and ''The Next Big Thing'' were all considered for the first game.
** ''[=LittleBigPlanet=] Unstitched'' for the Vita game.
** ''Sackboy: A Big Adventure'' was called ''[=LittleBigPlanet Next=]'' early on.
