----
* Two-Face's condition after the 'doctors' get through with him. Specifically, psychiatrist Dr. Adams took away his coin and replaced it with a die, giving him six options to choose from instead of two; she then moved on to a Tarot deck, and plans to complete the process with the I Ching. As a result, Two-Face has to consult his cards for every decision he makes--including using the bathroom. When Batman finds him, he's lying on the floor under a table, wetting himself because it took too long to choose. What makes it even worse is that Two-Face is genuinely apologetic for making a mess, which makes him sound like a sad, frightened child (an interpretation that lasts throughout the book). And Dr. Adams ''supports this.''
-->The moon is so beautiful. It's a big silver dollar, flipped by God. And it landed scarred side up, see? So He made the world.
* Two-Face at the end, whether through gratitude to Batman or a small part of Harvey Dent reemerging for a brief moment, lying about the coin toss to let Batman leave the asylum.
-->'''Two-Face:''' Who cares for you? You're nothing but a house of cards.
* Amadeus Arkham's MercyKill of his mother. And by implication, Dr. Adams' of Cavendish.
* [[HeroicBSOD Mommy's Dead.]] [[DespairEventHorizon Daddy's Dead.]] [[HeWhoFightsMonsters Brucie's Dead...]]
* The scene where Dr Adams gives Batman a word association test, at the Jokers demand.
-->'''Adams:''' Gun.
-->'''Batman:''' Father.
-->'''Adams:''' ...Father?
-->'''Batman:''' Death.
-->'''Adams:''' End.
-->'''Batman:''' Stop. ...stop.
-->'''Joker:''' AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
* The Mad Hatter talking about his "Alice".
-->'''Hatter:''' God help us. God help us all.
* Clayface is a mixture of this and ultra-loaded NightmareFuel. Unlike most versions, he doesn't seem to have any cool powers from his disease, he's just gravely ill and horribly scarred, and he's also likely infectious. He's seen barely able to stand, and after attempting to "spread his disease" with Batman, his leg breaks and he just collapses unto the floor. [[JerkassWoobie Poor guy.]]
** The reason for this? This is Preston Payne, Clayface ''III''! His only real power, possibly aside from enchanced strength, was the ability to melt people with his touch, which was also the only way to alleviate the constant pain his liquified flesh gave him. Remember the room full of mannequins that Destiny moves through? That's Payne's "harem". Driven to insanity both by his pain and his inability to touch others without killing them, Payne fell in love with a mannequin in the comics, his deranged mind believing she was real.
