However, things don't work out: Lana uses toilet paper, gum, and brown balloons (which Lynn thinks look like poop) as decorations, Lynn's subs she provides are covered in Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce, Lola's cake is too sweet, Luan's jokes are all about Rita being old, Luna can't think of a song Rita would like, and Lisa has invited three men Rita doesn't like. However, this all happens before Rita gets home and when they realise things are going south, they get Leni over, who throws a successful party for Rita.

Luan picks jokes that will remind her mom she's getting old, and Luna wants to jam rather than play something they won't all have to shout over. Leni, however, gets everything right: Mom's favorite colors, favorite food, favorite dessert, family and friends.

At the end of the episode, Leni reveals she found a card matching that exact description!
