----
This Episode contains the following Tropes:
* ActingForTwo: Wolf and Hakon share the same voice actor, the very awesome Creator/ClancyBrown. Explained InUniverse as Wolf being Hakon's descendant.
* BatmanGambit: In the car crusher, Hakon considers simply leaving Hudson to be killed by the machine. Hudson plays on his need for revenge and goads him into attacking instead. As expected, the axe becomes stuck in the crusher's floor and Hakon can't pull it free. Hudson gets to safety, while the crusher destroys the axe and forces Hakon away.
* Battle Ax-Crazy: Tonight, Wolf makes it literal thanks to his ancestor's weapon. And of course there's Hakon himself.
* BFG: Vinnie's weapon could count as a Deconstruction of this, as its massive size makes it highly unwieldy and very heavy to lug around. And then there's the matter of its unusual choice of ammunition.
* BondOneLiner: Hudson delivers an epic one when he tricks Hakon into climbing into a car compressor with him while they are fighting, then having his axe lodged in the floor as its crushed into so much scrap. As it's the only thing tying him to the mortal realm, its destruction is equal to his own:
-->Hudson: "Get an afterlife."
* Cloudcuckoolander: Vinnie's idea of revenge on Goliath was to hit him with a banana cream pie.
* DemonicPossession: Done by Hakon to Wolf to get the latter out of a bind. Wolf didn't appreciate this intervention.
* DiegeticSoundtrackUsage: After Vinnie considers things are even with Goliath, he can be heard humming the show's main theme.
* DisproportionateRetribution: At first it looks like Vinnie is about to pull off one of these, given the sheer size of his weapon and the determination to get even with the gargoyles. But in the end completely Averted; he considers a banana cream pie to the face a suitable way to 'make things even' with Goliath and the Gargoyles.
* Foreshadowing: Near the start of the episode when Vinnie Grigori picks up his gun Mr. Carter, its creator, Mr. Acme, informs him that who ever is on the receiving end of this giant bazooka-like gun "is going to get creamed!" It would turn out that this would be quite literal.
* FullyAutomaticClipShow: Vinnie's barrage of misfortunes at the hands of the Gargoyles, all the way from the second part of the FiveEpisodePilot, is presented this way with Vinnie's rambling reminiscing soliloquies as narration.
* ICallItVera: Vinnie names his aforementioned weapon as "Mr. Carter".
* ItsPersonal:
** Both Hakon and Wolf want revenge against Goliath.
** Upon being told that Hakon is involved, Hudson becomes enraged. He calls the Viking a "clan slaughterer" and makes a point of taking him down.
* MoodWhiplash: After the grueling fight against Wolf and Hakon, Vinnie appears to take his revenge on Goliath. He winds up just shooting him in the face with a pie and leaving satisfied, leaving two very confused Gargoyles.
-->Hudson: Who in the world was that!?
-->Goliath: I haven’t the slightest idea...
-->Hudson: (Wipes some cream from Goliath’s face and tastes it) Mmmm... banana cream.
* RestrainedRevenge: As payback for all of the misfortune the gargoyle's have caused him, Vinnie custom-orders a huge gun, tracks down Goliath, and SHOOTS HIM IN THE FACE... with a banana cream pie.
* RoadRunnerVsCoyote: Vinnie's subplot involves him chasing Goliath all over New York and trying to get a clean shot with his gun only to get injured by constant misfortunes. He achieves his objective, nevertheless.
* ShoutOut:
** Vinnie's name, and Mr. Carter's, were both references to the television series Series/WelcomeBackKotter (1975-79): the characters of Mr. Kotter and Vinnie Barbarino.
** The man who creates Vinnie's gun is named "Mr. Acme". Acme is the name of the company featured in numerous WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes shorts, especially those featuring Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote.
** When Hakon lectures his descendant on how to deal with Goliath and Hudson (which includes having the disembodied Viking possess him), Wolf retorts to him, "Dream on, Casper!"
* SoulJar: Hakon's battle axe functions as this, as he tethered his spirit to it in order to leave the confines of Castle Wyvern. Its destruction may have resulted in his own permanent banishment from the mortal realm.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Vinnie, who had his life inconvenienced by repeated encounters with Goliath as a RunningGag, performs a RestrainedRevenge and becomes the only character in the entire Gargoyles franchise for whom RevengeIsSweet.
* UnknownRival: None of the gargoyles have any idea who Vinnie is, or why he's holding a grudge against them. This works to his advantage, as he's able to get in front of Goliath, pick up his hilariously oversized gun, aim it, and deliver a small rant about getting even before taking the shot, all because Goliath and Hudson are so utterly bewildered by his appearance that they don't take any action to defend themselves.
* VengeanceDenied:
** Inverted and played for laughs. Vinnie manages to get the revenge he was so obsessed of getting on Goliath (and in a franchise that keeps on telling that vengeance is "a sucker's game", he is the only character in all of it that gets to enjoy his). His plan on getting vengeance on Goliath was just giving him a facial with banana cream.
** Played straight with Hakon, who is KilledOffForReal with nothing to show for it but some bruises on the gargoyles.
