Kim Kil Whan is worried about his daughter’s future and asks Jake for some parental advice.
----
!!Tropes:
* AttentionWhore: Jake spends the entire episode trying to impress Bronwyn and her friends and later enters a race against her where the loser is banned from the skate park, just so he can be the coolest.
* ContinuityNod: Huntress Wizard shows up briefly when Finn plays the flute. More specifically, the song they played to summon the Spirit of the Forest in "Flute Spell".
** Jake pretending not to know about his granddaughter is a nod to "Ocarina"'s darker alternate ending where Kim Kil Whan decides keep his family a secret because Jake is just too immature.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Even Finn thinks Jake skateboarding against his granddaughter is dumb.
* TheFettered: Jake (stretchy powers) and Kim Kil Whan (a very long dogicorn plus teleportation), literally during the three-legged race. They come in last but Kim Kil Whan appreciates Jake not using his powers to show off or cheat (Jake also doesn't use his powers in his race with Bronwyn aside from giving himself a cool "hairdo").
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Even after declaring to Finn that she can't fall in love as they're "exceptional beasts", Huntress Wizard still shows up to take a peek at Finn playing their song on the flute, all while the camera focuses on her as she makes her exit while she still watches Finn, foreshadowing their [[OfficialCouple relationship]] in the final season.
* FunnyConceptionStory: When the swan boat falls into the Bottomless Pit of Love, Jake moans "Not the swan! That's where the puppies came from."
* GoodParents: Upon finding out why Bronwyn's grades have slid, Kim Kil Whan recognizes skating's important to her but tells her firmly yet politely that she needs to get her grades up, something she agrees to with no issue. He also apologizes for not simply discussing it with her in the first place and sending Jake instead.
* ManChild: Thoroughly deconstructed with Jake this time around: He fails to connect with Kim Kil Whan due to his immaturity and is more focused on impressing his granddaughter than actually being her grandpa. It also gets him horribly injured when he tries to make a jump it took Bronwyn months to make.
* RideTheLightning: Bronwyn summons storm clouds and becomes a bolt of lightning just to step down to Jake and challenge him.
* SequelEpisode: To "Ocarina". Jake's relationship with Kim Kil is somewhat better but Jake hasn't really changed enough for Kim to change his opinion of his dad.
* ShipTease:
** Marceline and Bubblegum are seen together in the "Pit of Love".
** Huntress Wizard shows up again when Finn plays the flute.
* SkewedPriorities: Jake eventually forgets the entire point of his going to check on his granddaughter -- to make sure she's secure for the future for her dad -- and instead focuses on trying to impress her and her friends.
-->'''Jake:''' I tried real-talkin' with Bronwyn last night, and now she thinks I'm a square!\
'''Kim Kil Whan:''' ...I feel like you're losing sight of the point here, dad.
* WhatTheHellHero: Finn calls Jake out for racing against Bronwyn.
-->'''Finn:''' Dude are you really going to get your granddaughter banned from her own skate park?\
