'''Your Favorite Band Sucks''' is a comedy/music podcast hosted by Mark Mosley and Tyler Mahan Coe. The format of the podcast is to pick a (usually) SacredCow band and pick it apart in a comically exaggerated manner. Usually, the podcast will mix music/band specific commentary with industry wide commentary and comparisons to other bands. Sometimes, there will also be episodes focusing on music industry tropes (such as Top Ten Lists) and specific companies (such as Ticketmaster) rather than bands.

!!Tropes Suck:

* BiasSteamroller: Mark and Tyler are not fans of the ProgressiveRock genre. If a band (such as Music/{{Metallica}}) starts implementing progressive influences in their music, expect some extra criticism from them.
* CausticCritic: Almost no band, no matter how beloved, is safe from ridicule on this show. Even SacredCow bands that have never garnered much in the way of HypeBacklash (such as Music/QueensOfTheStoneAge and Music/{{Soundgarden}}) are fair game.
* ChristmasEpisode: Every year around Christmas, they do a podcast on why Christmas Music sucks.
* DeadpanSnarker: Tyler and Mark. Almost every episode sees them snarking relentlessly at a beloved band or musician, with a little bit of FanHater thrown in from time to time.
* EveryoneHasStandards: While any band is fair game on the show, two bands you will ''never'' see Tyler and Mark criticize (thus far) are Music/{{Melvins}} and Music/GunsNRoses. Any grunge/alternative rock band covered on the show will likely be accused at some point of ripping off Melvins. While any glam-inspired metal band covered on the show will likely be compared negatively to Guns N' Roses.
* FanHater: A common complaint about the podcast is Mark and Tyler's tendency to rip on fans of the bands they are covering. This is especially common when they do videos of bands/musicians that are notorious for things like their heavy drug use (such as Music/AliceInChains and Music/RedHotChiliPeppers).
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: A rare positive example. In the Music/TaylorSwift episode, they rip on Taylor for the fake country/western accent she used on her first few records. They're happy that she dropped it altogether on what is arguably [[Music/Red2012 her final country album.]]
* OncePerEpisode: Every episode ends with "If your favorite band is X, your favorite band sucks!"
* SillyRabbitCynicismIsForLosers: Somewhat ironically, Mark and Tyler are not very fond of overly negative or depressing bands. As their Music/{{Radiohead}}, Music/TheCure and Music/AliceInChains episodes demonstrate.
* ShownTheirWork: Despite their relentless snark, both Mark and Tyler often show a surprisingly strong understanding of popular music and the bands they're covering. Sometimes they'll even suggest lesser known (but, in some cases, still highly regarded) alternatives to whatever band they are covering on the show.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Occasionally, they will offer some positive commentary on a band.
** In the Music/{{Coldplay}} episode, they conclude that Coldplay is mostly a good band but suggest avoiding the music made during Chris Martin’s divorce.
** In the Music/{{Metallica}} episode, they show some genuine love for Music/LoadAndReLoad, considering them to actually be pretty decent bluesy rock records.
** In the Music/{{Pantera}} episode, they decide that "Cowboys From Hell" is at the very least a SoOkayItsAverage record.
** Their Music/{{Nickelback}} review is probably the most positive review they have ever done. Then again, it's also an AprilFoolsDay episode, so make of that what you will.
