''Friendly'' Tickle Torture is often portrayed as an affectionate act to emphasize how strong a bond is between two characters in a playful and sometimes cute manner. While some cases demonstrate that it's unpleasant for the recipient, it is nonetheless obvious that the intentions of the tickler are purely harmless. In some contexts, it may become flirtatious.
