That was not even the bad part, what actually drove him over the edge was the revelation that everything already exists and humans don't create, they only bring things from the Tome into reality. This was a death blow to his pride as a writer and he went on to destroy the Tome and steal part of its power for himself so he could manipulate the world into his narrative.

[[IncorruptiblePurePureness Emily]] is the only person shown not to be overly affected, but it's possible she's just become a StepfordSmiler to try and cope.

Even though Jerry doesn't go insane, the revelation burned out his emotional maturity and returned him to the shallow sitcom character he was before.
