!!This film contains examples of:

* AcePilot: Detroit Turner is the most decorated pilot in the Navy, having won 14 medals for heroism, and refueled a plane with one engine in mid-flight.
* BaitAndSwitchTyrant: Levine enjoys beginning conversations where he's about to congratulate or reward the team by sounding stern and listing things they did wrong.
* BigDamnHeroes: Levine sends a GunshipRescue moment at the end, right as Petovic has the drop on the team.
--> Levine: You degenerates do realize that you would be dead, if I had not sent Detroit to the rescue?
* BlatantLies: Matt tells Levine that they were going to file a full report about the gold as soon as they'd secured it. Levine doesn't buy it.
* TheCavalry: Levine sends in a gunship which kills Petrovic and his men right as their about to kill Matt. When he's chewing them out, he points out that they would have died if he hadn't showed up.
* DeathGlare: Petrovic's default expression is quite menacing.
* DragonAscendant: Petrovic, the loyal chief-of-staff of war criminal General Milic, takes over their army after Milic's capture in the first act, seeking revenge on his captors.
* EurekaMoment: The search for the gold initially turns up just ten bars (although as Duffy points out this is still a nice haul for both Lara and the team) but then as they go to leave, Matt looks at a bricked wall with writing and realizes that the words are upside down, meaning the bricks were taken out and replace don't in a slipshod manner, sure enough there's more good behind them,
* GeneralRipper: General Milic, who the team captures at the beginning, orders various atrocities among his men and is trying to cover it up. He also comments that he may have the "reporters" skinned alive after they make a positive video of him.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Both the Nazis who hid the gold in the first place (and were then killed when partisans blew a dam up to drown them) and General Milic, whose capture causes his aide Petrovic to pursue the team to avenge him.
* GriefInducedSplit: Matt became estranged from his wife following the daughter's death in a car accident, as his wife had been the one driving.
* IntroOnlyPointOfView: Lara's grandfather is only in the first scene m.
* JustifiedCriminal: The gold is from France, but could do a lot of gold in Bosnia.
* KeepTheReward: In the end, the SEAL's give their share of the money to Lara.
* NaziGold: The target of the team's mission.
* ObnoxiousInLaws: Zigzagged with Levine's brother in-law. He sends Levine fancy cigars on his birthday but Levine claims he only does so to rub in his own wealth, later calling him "despicable." That being said those comment may be in a VitriolicBestBuds way given Levine's regular personality and how he later notes his brother-in-law is also his broker and financial advisor (and how the guy apparently helped sell the golden without demanding much, if any, for himself).
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Matt's daughter died in a car accident a few years ago, causing him to become estranged from his wife, who was driving.
* TheQuietOne: Detroit, aside from a few laughs, tends to let Rainey do the talking for him.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Admiral Levine, who mostly abides by the book but appreciates the teams accomplishments.
* SpookyPainting: Diving for the gold also uncovers a painting in the vault, badly waterlogged and a bit ominous after all those years, which just comes apart in front of the team.
* TankGoodness: The team hijacks a tank during their abduction of Milic.
* TheSmartGuy: Ben, who calculates the price of the gold and how to get it out of the lake.
* SoleSurvivor: Lara's grandfather was the only survivor of his town, once the Nazi's made sure to LeaveNoWitnesses to hiding the gold.
* UltimateJobSecurity: Detroit's AcePilot status is confidently pointed out by his co-pilot Rainey when Levine threatens to have him dishonorably discharged unless he reveals what the SEALs are up to, with Rainey arguing that Detroit is too valuable to get rid of like that. Levine agrees, and then points out that this isn't true of Rainey himself, however, which scares Rainey into talking.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Lara's brother is last seen as a prisoner of Petrovic, inadvertently clueing him in on where to look for the main characters.
