A reporter from a sports magazine known for his ridiculously large afro. Has a daughter, Riko, who is studying to be a journalist and sometimes stands in for him.
----
* BrutalHonesty: His reviews aren't sugar coating player who had clearly bad performance such as Kuroki and Toganou's match against the Sphinx.
* CombatCommentator: Early in the series he explains the difference between Taiyou and Deimon.
* OneSteveLimit: Downplayed. Shares the same first name with runningback Riku Kaitani of the Seibu Wild Gunmen.
* StraightMan: To his loud and abrasive co-worker "Machine Gun" Sanada.

Daughter of Riku Kumabukuro, she takes her father's place as announcer during the Kanto tournament. Tends to stutter when she's excited or nervous, but is otherwise an excellent announcer and journalist who just wants to be taken seriously.
----
* CombatCommentator: She replaces his father during the Kanto tournament and Christmas Bowl.
* FunnyAfro: In the anime she grows an afro whenever she gets too excited.
* GenkiGirl: Not nearly as energetic as Sanada but is still very enthusiastic about her job.
* HiredForTheirLooks: Her good looks were how she managed to get an interview with Agon.

Kumabukuro's loud, fast-talking fellow commentator. A rather hammy fellow with an outlandish hair-cut that resembles a set of lawn-mower blades sticking out of his head.
----
* AnimeHair
* CombatCommentator
* ExpressiveHair: His hair starts rotating when he gets sufficiently excited.
* LargeHam
* HotBlooded
* MotorMouth: His nickname is not casual. He is known for his fast, rapid fire delivery of commentary.

President of Jari Productions, and somewhat sleazy manager to Haruto Sakuraba. Originally depicted as just a money-grubbing social climber seeking to make a fortune off Sakuraba's good looks, he naturally flips out when Sakuraba quits being a model to focus on sports. However, he shows a softer side after he comes to accept Sakuraba's wishes.
----
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: A shameless promoter but it's clear he cares about Sakuraba.
* KickTheDog: When he tries to throw out the sweatband Sakuraba got from a young fan.
* PetTheDog: When he eventually accepts Sakuraba's desire to focus on football, and even starts cheering him on. There is even a flashback where he stopped some thugs from beating Sakuraba even though he was already badly beaten himself.

Sakuraba's biggest fan, stuck with him even after discovering his actual abilities. One of Sakuraba's biggest motivators for improving himself. Is currently bound to a wheelchair, but desires to become a football player once he recovers.
----
* BrutalHonesty
* CheerfulChild
* DisabledMeansHelpless: Averted quite nicely, aside from not being able to play football, he's treated just like any other bratty kid.
* Fanboy: He is great fan of Sakuraba, who wishes to become a player after witnessing Sakaruba catching a very high pass. Even when Sakuraba says he caught that pass by accident and when Torakichi learns Sakuraba is really a sub-par player, Torakichi remains a loyal fan and encourages him to become stronger.
* ImagineSpot: When he explained the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Kanto’s Wide Receivers to his friends, he imagined Monta as a giant monkey, Sakuraba as a KnightInShiningArmor, Ikkyu as a multi-armed robot monk, and Tetsuma as a missile-shooting cyborg. Volume 24’s extra labeled it as “Torakichi’s delusion”.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Onihei, or atleast Torakichi thinks so (Onihei probably sees him more as the below).
* MouthyKid
* OddCouple: With Onihei. A RunningGag is that Torakichi quite accurately believes, after observing some of Onihei's predictions, that anything that Onihei predicts is wrong.
* Plucky Boy
* PutOnABus: spoiler:After Ojo lost to Deimon in Kanto Regional’s semi-final, in order to continue his theraphy. His final on-screen appearance was during the baseball game in Tokyo Dome, in which he had both Onihei and Head Nurse Oka to accompany him.
* TagAlongKid: Amongst the combat commentators. Often steals Wakaba's camera. Lampshaded in Chapter 50, "Who's that kid?"
