Characters from ''WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer'' as commonly depicted in Platform/GoAnimate videos.
----
[[foldercontrol]]

!!The Marquez family
[[folder:In general]]
* AdaptationalJerkass: All of them are a lot more mean and obnoxious than in the cartoon, but especially Mami and Abuela when compared to their canonical counterparts.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Arguably got it worse than Caillou's family, as all of them have become pretty terrible people in the grounded videos.
* AdaptedOut: The twins usually don't appear unless it's a "Dora Calls the Baby Stupid" video, and Perrito the dog pretty much never appears.
* BadassFamily: They can pull off amazing feats together, or just one member of the family doing something awesome.
* BreakoutCharacter: For basically the same reasons as Caillou and his family.
* ButtMonkey: They get put through a lot of bad luck.
* TheChewToy: Their bad luck is usually PlayedForLaughs.
* DependingOnTheWriter: It's rare, but some users do give Dora and her family more sympathetic qualities.
* DontMakeMeTakeMyBeltOff: A favourite punishment of the adults is to spank Dora with belts, as shown in videos such as [[https://youtu.be/WgZdiGyBHoM Dora Argues With Her Dad/Belted and Grounded]] and [[https://youtu.be/OQ8AtgLOShc Dora's Christmas Punishment Day]].
* DysfunctionalFamily: Much like the Caillou family, they make [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy the Griffins]] look like [[Series/FullHouse the Tanners]].
* {{Jerkass}}: Dora is a bully, and her parents are abusive towards her.
* PetTheDog: While mean, they're not incapable of empathy, even if these moments tend to be fewer and far between compared to Caillou and his family.

Dora is the other most popular grounding victim in the grounded videos. Much like Caillou, she regularly misbehaves for a multitude of different reasons before inevitably getting busted and grounded. Despite interacting with Caillou frequently, most of the videos involving her have their own set of characters for Dora to interact with. Many of Dora's videos take place at school, where Dora pulls pranks, picks on other students like star student Gina, and makes messes that get her grounded. She is voiced by Kayla or Julie.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: Just like Caillou, she's not the plucky, happy girl you know.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Just like all the troublemakers, she's a mean brat as opposed to a good character.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Dora harbors a resentment for her fellow student Gina, who is much more well-behaved and does well at school.
* BreakoutCharacter: The second most well-known character in the [=GoAnimate=] world.
* ButtMonkey: For similar reasons to Caillou; characters largely don't enjoy having her around.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Dora attempts to stand up to her parents in some videos, to varying levels of success. ([[StatusQuoIsGod Usually]], [[DownerEnding they don't work]].)
* CreepyChild: To an extent -- sometimes, she pulls {{Deadly Prank}}s.
* CuteAndPsycho: Is a little girl in a pink shirt, but is evil. Not to Caillou's extent, though.
* CuteBruiser: Just as strong as Caillou and just as cute.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Her general appearance [[DependingOnTheWriter depends on the user.]]
* DependingOnTheWriter: As you can see from the two pictures of Dora to the right, there are many different ways Dora appears in the grounded videos. Her design varies wildly across many videos, depending on how much the user wants her to look like her TV counterpart or not.
* DistaffCounterpart: She serves as one to Caillou in videos where they appear together. Some users have also depicted her as Caillou's LoveInterest.
* TheDogBitesBack: Often happens in deconstruction videos or videos involving her where she isn't the target.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Often gets called "Dora The Motherfucking Explorer" by her parents.
* EnfanteTerrible: Not as much as Caillou is, but she is known to be violent.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: She and Caillou tend to be good friends.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: The pranks she pulls are extremely dangerous, but she finds them funny.
* EvilKnockoff: Thanks to the two differentiating designs, the original Dora design is usually referred to as "Fake Dora".
* EvilLaugh: "Mwoo-harharharharharharharhar-ha-ha."
* FreudianExcuse: When users give her a reason for troublemaking, it's usually because of her parents abusing her.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Dora's school pranks tend to backfire on her horribly, whether directly or indirectly.
* InSeriesNickname: Her parents often call her "Dora the Mexican[=/=]Motherfucking Explorer" as their CatchPhrase.
* InformedAbility: Dora's trademark exploring is largely ignored unless it's the focus of the plot of a grounded video.
* {{Jerkass}}: Like all troublemakers, she's a bratty, disobedient kid.
* KarmicButtMonkey: Dora is a mean-spirited prankster who often gets grounded and is injured by her own tricks sometimes.
* TheKidsAreAmerican: She's the youngest in her family and the only one with an American accent.
* KidsAreCruel: Mean to other students and is constantly pranking them.
* MeanBoss: Often is demanding towards Boots if he's present in a video.
* NeverMyFault: In samster5677's videos, Dora is convinced that Gina deserves all the attacks that she has been given and that she (Dora) shouldn't be punished for it. Later videos has her convinced that ''all'' of her punishments are this and that her mother treats her unfairly. To be quite fair, it's hard to tell who is in the right in that case.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Lots of characters get spooked by her actions, even if they aren't so bad.
* PetTheDog: Dora is evil, but does have kind moments.
* PhraseCatcher: "Dora the Motherfucking Explorer".
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Despite being a little girl, Dora is capable of hospitalizing people she beats up, moving large objects like 1,500 pound balls with ease, and destroying buildings single-handedly. (Though the last case is seen across many troublemakers.)
* ThePrankster: Dora has an affinity for pulling pranks, almost all of which backfire on her spectacularly.
* ShipTease: Sometimes hinted to be in love with Caillou.
* SuperStrongChild: She can lift heavy objects and is able to break people's bones easily.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Often gets this in deconstruction videos or videos involving her where she isn't the target.
* TookALevelInJerkass: While she's already much more unpleasant than her canon counterpart, the user [=adamkleinschmidt2003's=] portrayal of Dora, who was notable as one of the Grounded genre's biggest [[JerkassWoobie Jerkass Woobies]] in many of his early videos, acts a lot less sympathetic and much more unrepentant/belligerent when caught in later videos.
* TookALevelInKindness: In Deconstruction videos, or videos involving her where she isn't the target, she comes off as a bit nicer.
%%* TragicVillain
%%* TroubledAbuser
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Too many to list. She often does things like get Gina sick, pull pranks involving demons, etc.
* UnexplainedAccent: She speaks with an American accent; her mom has an Indian accent; her dad has a Mexican accent; and her Grandma has a Colombian accent.
* VillainousFriendship: When her relationship with Caillou isn't romantic, it tends to be this.
* TheWoobie: Because of how many bad things happen to her, she can be seen as this.
* WouldHarmASenior: Has no qualms with attacking her Grandma.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mami and Papi Marquez]]
[[quoteright:134:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dorasparents.PNG]]

Dora's mother, nicknamed Elena or Veena, is the most common character seen to punish Dora. She is shown to have a HairTriggerTemper and is annoyed fairly easily, and sometimes crosses the line when punishing her daughter. Dora's father, who is often nicknamed Miguel or Cole, is shown to be marginally less harsh, but still plenty verbally abusive to Dora.
----
* AbusiveParents: In several videos, but most notably [=Samster5677=]'s series. Mami in particular is often shown to be an extremely abusive mother who is quick to ground Dora the second she screws up and sometimes will even tell Dora to her face that she wishes Dora were dead.
* AdaptationalJerkass: In the original show, Mami and Papi are shown to be level-headed parents who show great enthusiasm in Dora's exploring. However, in the videos, they are shown to hate Dora's exploring and downright hate Dora to the point they wish she never existed.
* AdaptationalVillainy: It's to be expected, since they are the parents of a troublemaker in this series.
* {{Angrish}}: Like Boris, Mami and Papi are shown to use "OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH!!!" when giving out to Dora. Because of Papi's thick Spanish accent, however, his rendition of this phrase sounds more like "OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK!!!" instead.
* AxCrazy: Most of the Punishment Day videos involving Mami portray her as violent and psycho.
* BerserkButton: Dora's trademark exploring is a big pet peeve of theirs.
* BoomerangBigot: They often call on Dora for being Mexican, despite the fact that they themselves are also Mexican.
* TheBully: They both are well known for their abuse of their daughter.
* CatchPhrase: "Dora the Mexican[=/=]Motherfucking[=/=]Poopy[=/=]Illegal Imogrant[=/=]Shitty-Ass Explorer!"
* DependingOnTheWriter:
** Some users show them as okay parents, but most depict them as evil ones.
** Sometimes their names are Elena and Miguel, and sometimes they're Veena and Cole.
** Mami's accent varies between Spanish, Mexican, American, and Indian.
* DistaffCounterpart: They're both respectively ones to Boris and Doris.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: In some videos, they are shown to have gone to college with Boris and Doris.
* {{Expy}}: Mami is very similar to Boris in ways, right down to the point where she sometimes has a "Teeth Girl" variant or is shipped with him. Likewise, Papi is the Doris expy.
* HairTriggerTemper: Mami is very aggressive and moody.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: They attempt to strike down Dora's villainy, even though they're just as mean as she is.
* {{Jerkass}}: They're abusive, unsympathetic, and racist to Mexicans.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Mami and Papi aren't incorrect about Dora's brattiness even though they are abusive and racist.
%%* MagnificentMoustachesOfMexico: Miguel.
* MakeUpIsEvil: Mami is an abusive mom who usually wears lipstick.
* NeverMyFault: In [=samster5677=]'s videos, Mami can take this to extremes, as some of Dora's actions are caused by Mami making sure that Dora's life is as miserable as possible, then being shocked when Dora responds explosively.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: They can get kinda creepy at times.
* SatelliteCharacter: Papi doesn't often get much characterization beyond agreeing with Mami on something.
* TautologicalTemplar: They have their moments.
* UnexplainedAccent: Mami talks in a faint Indian accent.
* TheUnintelligible: Most of Papi's typical voices are ones intended for Spanish dialogue. Because of this, his English dialogue is usually so thickly accented that most users have to caption it.
* VerbalTic: In some creators' versions, Mami prefixes nouns with "Mexican", such as "go upstairs to your Mexican room right now".
* WouldHurtAChild: They inflict agonizing Punishment Days on Dora whenever she messes up.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Abuela Marquez]]
[[quoteright:161:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abuela.PNG]]

Dora's grandmother, who commonly serves as both the enabler and the {{Foil}} to Dora's actions, and is commonly seen when Dora commits a misdeed or tantrum, as well as being seen in punishment days. She has been voiced by Soledad and Catherine.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: Much like her daughter, Abuela is shown to be constantly rude to Dora.
* AdaptationalVillainy: She's a CoolOldLady in Dora's original show, but not here.
* BerserkButton: Never call her fat.
* ButtMonkey: A victim of Dora's schemes.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Usually, everyone refers to Abuela by "Abuela" as Dora's grandmother, much like in canon.
* FatBastard: Abuela is shown to be extremely heavyset and apathetic to things going on around her until Dora raises a stink. After which, she gets every bit as violent as Mami and Papi.
* GrumpyOldMan: She's strict and rude.
* {{Jerkass}}: Ridiculously strict, impolite, and apathetic.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Abuela makes good points on occasion.
* NoSympathy: She's apathetic to everything around her until Dora does something bad.
* ScrewPolitenessImASenior: She's often rather mean spirited.
* UnexplainedAccent: Her second-most popular voice "Catherine" is a British voice, while her daughter, granddaughter and son in-law have Spanish or American accents (sometimes Indian for her daughter).
* TheUnintelligible: Like Papi, Abuela's normal voice of Soledad is one for Spanish dialogue, so she's commonly subtitled for the audience.
[[/folder]]

!!Other characters
[[folder:Boots]]
[[quoteright:261:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goanimateboots.jpg]]

Despite the animal characters largely being not present in the grounded videos, Boots still makes appearances from time to time.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: Just like everyone else; he's often played as Dora's partner-in-crime, and he betrays her when they get caught.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Went from Dora's friend to somebody who's fine with betraying Dora.
* CowardlySidekick: And not in a funny way, see DirtyCoward.
* DemotedToExtra: Even though he still appears more often than the other animal characters (i.e. Benny, Tico, etc.), Boots, for the most part, rarely appears in the grounded videos unless a plot requires him to be present.
* DirtyCoward: Whenever he and Dora get caught causing trouble, Boots will ditch Dora and let her get all the punishment for it.
* TheDragon: Is the second banana to Dora whenever Kevin isn't playing the role.
* EtTuBrute: He's willing to betray Dora whenever she does something bad.
* {{Gonk}}: Owing to not being a human character like everyone else, some of his depictions can get rather odd to look at compared to everyone else.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's an awful friend to Dora, even willing to ditch Dora when something bad happens.
* ManiacMonkeys: He's a monkey and he likes causing trouble.
%%* NonHumanSidekick: To Dora.
* TheStarscream: The treacherous right-hand man of Dora.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: The character dynamic between Dora and Boots becomes this in the grounded videos, to the point that Boots can and will [[EtTuBrute throw Dora under the bus]] when she misbehaves.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Swiper]]
Another of the animal characters who will appear in the Dora videos if so chosen by the user.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: He's a far more capable character here than in his home series.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Swiper was merely a kleptomaniac with sympathetic qualities in the original ''Dora the Explorer'' series. In the grounded videos, however, Swiper has no qualms about actually hurting Dora and is sometimes genuinely malicious.
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the original series, Swiper would never go as far as killing Dora.
* DemotedToExtra: Like Boots, Swiper only appears every so often in the grounded videos, usually only when a video's plot requires him to be there.
* {{Jerkass}}: He often exhibits genuine malice in the grounded videos, especially towards Dora.
%%* MalevolentMaskedMan
* SwiperNoSwiping: Well duh, he's the TropeNamer. Even though he's more villainous in the grounded videos, he will still sometimes stop being bad when told.
* WouldHitAGirl: He has no qualms with harming Dora.
* WouldHurtAChild: In videos where he appears, he often kills or hurts Dora.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Azul]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/azulthetraingoanimate.png]]

A blue train, often stated to be "fake" for one reason or another. Because of this, he's often shown as a target for grounding in Thomas-related videos.
----
%%* AdaptationalVillainy: Like all the other troublemakers.
* AnimateInanimateObject: A living train (albeit one who looks like a human).
* BerserkButton: As [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd82jI4IaGw this video]] shows, he HATES being called slow.
* BodyHorror: Insomuch as it can apply to a train. He often gets recycled into other, more mundane trains.
* ButtMonkey: Is often bullied by other train characters.
* JerkassWoobie: He is an abrasive character, but with everyone picking on him and calling him a "[[NoTrueScotsman fake train]]", can you really blame him?
* MeaningfulName: His name means "blue" in Spanish, and he's blue.
* SpecialEffectsFailure: Because of the limitations of [=GoAnimate=], he's often portrayed as a white-skinned human with a blue and cyan gi, blue hair, a blue chef's hat, and gray shoes; similar to the ''WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends'' characters whenever they appear.
[[/folder]]

!!Original ''Dora the Explorer''-related characters
[[folder:Ms. Christina]]
[[quoteright:185:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misschristina.PNG]]

In lieu of having Ms. Martin as her teacher at school, Dora has her own teacher in the form of Miss Christina. She's commonly depicted as an African-American woman in a red dress with white ruffles who's frequently exasperated with Dora's actions and pranks. She's voiced by Amy.
----
* BerserkButton:
** Do not misbehave in her class.
** May God have mercy on your soul if you call her the n-word.
* ButtMonkey: Dora's pranks tend to influence Miss Christina in many negative ways.
* CanonForeigner: An original [=GoAnimate=] character.
* ClusterFBomb: Downplayed. While she often uses "fuck", it is often when she is mad, and hardly uses it when in a normal attitude.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Her appearance tends to differentiate between users and ''even'' people who use her. Examples include if her dress has a halterneck-like strap or fluff, alongside a pink bangle on her right arm or not. Her shade of hair color, while usually chocolate brown, also differentiates at random.
* HappyHolidaysDress: Her dress has a very "Mrs. Claus"-esque design to it, right down to the white fluff at the hems.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Any sympathy can be given to her since Dora is a true jerk.
* SadistTeacher: Somewhat downplayed, surprisingly enough. By and large, Miss Cristina is far less of an EvilTeacher than Ms. Martin, and, despite not liking Dora very much, usually treats Dora the same as the other students until Dora causes trouble. However, she does have her moments where she actively antagonizes Dora, though they happen less often than Ms. Martin.
* SternTeacher: Very strict to her students, especially Dora.
* TeachersPet: Gina Delgado is her favorite student, to Dora's chagrin.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Gina Delgado]]
[[quoteright:212:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gina_3.PNG]]

Gina Delgado is the favourite student of Ms. Christina as commonly depicted in several videos. In comparison to Dora, Gina is shown to be an extremely intelligent, polite and hardworking child, and as such, she is rarely seen being punished or grounded. Due to this, Dora is commonly shown to harbour a grudge against her because Gina often snitches on Dora, and is constantly shown attempting to find several ways to dethrone Gina from her spot.
----
* TheAce: She gets A's in every single subject. She even once got a 4.0 GPA.
%%* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Is this to Dora.
* ButtMonkey: She is the often the butt of Dora's pranks. And even if she's not the main target of Dora's tricks, she'll still get injured by them.
* CanonForeigner: Another original [=GoAnimate=] character.
* TheChewToy: As mentioned above, there are several videos where Gina is victim to actions committed by Dora to the point where she is even seen being killed, which are played for comedy.
* NiceGirl: Very well-mannered and nice. She doesn't always blow her stack when wronged like everyone else does outside of rare occasions, and she rarely rubs her high-ranking status as a school student in Dora's face at all.
* NotSoAboveItAll: There are those rare videos where she isn't quite so nice and is even the troublemaker.
* OnlySaneMan: Out of most of the characters in the "Dora Gets Grounded" series, Gina is one of the nicest characters, and is rarely seen screwing up or getting grounded. However, it is not uncommon to see videos of her being killed or being TheChewToy to Dora's actions.
* TheStoolPigeon: She's always snitching on Dora.
* TeachersPet: In comparison to Dora, she is the favoured student of Miss Christina.
* TheyKilledKennyAgain: No matter how many times she is killed, she is almost always seen alive in future videos.
