"On 25 June (6.25) 1950, North Korea, annoyed at the democratic elections in South Korea, launched an invasion of the latter." Isn't it a bit more complicated than that? Firstly, weren't the elections technically a violation of an earlier US-USSR agreement? And didn't the government that got elected in South Korea go on to expel not just communists, but pretty much all left-leaning politicians, from South Korean politics? And didn't both sides have plans to unify all of Korea under their particular ideology, with no regard for the other? Sure, the North was communist, supported by the USSR, and generally can be called the "bad guys," but isn't it a bit much to bring historical conflicts with two sides down to "durr, the bad guys hate freedom?"

  • Well, the aggressor normally does get bad press. Odd how that works, isn't it?
