Working Title: Immortality (index?): From YKTTW

How about a Type VIII immortality, Made Of Lego Bricks. The character can be easily reassembled. C-3PO is the classic example: he has been "killed" (broken into parts) twice in the movies, and both times just reassembled. The first time, he was reassembled offscreen by a Jedi and a farm boy (you don't really think they hired a Jawa to do it, did you?). The second time, Chewbacca starts the process simply by popping the head piece on the torso piece—backwards—and does enough to reactivate the vocal circuits.

This is different from the sort of "pieces crawl back together and re-form" in that the character cannot self-resurrect. He has to be reassembled externally.

A related type would be Restored from Backup, but that is more of type IV immortality.

There is also the Removable Core, where a character's essence can be pulled from the body and placed in a new one. This can be a robot (such as Joey from Beneath a Steel Sky). It can also be done by a brain-in-a-jar deal (Spock in "Spock's Brain", that Nuke dealer from Robocop 2, etc.) This is a cross between Made Of Lego Bricks and Restored From Backup.

Are these worth separate names? —Rob Mandeville

Is Wolverine truely immortal? Sure, you can't really kill him... but he does age. Unless he stopped aging when he hit late-30's/early 40's.
