So me and iamnoone can't agree on the Unfortunate Implications entry with the link to article about female objectification and female leadership. I'm for keeping it, because I feel it is an implication present in the film, even if the filmmakers did not intend it, and this is a YMMV trope anyway, so it's not like people should take it as fact. He is against having it, feeling that context absolves everything. Hoping for some resolution here, and maybe some third party to help out. Please note that I am not fond of these films, and as such, am biased.

I actually have to side with iamnoone here. The NEST leader wasn't incompetent or "a joke", she was just hard lined and no nonsense. And Carla did more than Mikeala ever did. That alone disproves the second part.

Well, Mikaela did help Bumblebee kill one of the 'cons in the first movie, and between taking an electric saw to Frenzy, capturing Wheelie, and ramming Alice with the car, she had a better record fighting Decepticons than Sam did until the third movie. Hell, better than some of the Autobots did.

...But doesn't that right there disprove the notion that this movie supports "woman are only objects"?

I never said I agreed with that notion. I was just disputing the "Carly did more than Mikaela ever did" part.

Though on the other hand, if we're talking mass, Sam taking down both Megatron and Starscream puts him back ahead of Mikaela.

OK. I'll drop it.
