Why is there an Alternative Character Interpretation of Lotso hinging around his complete monstrosity, even though he's a definite CM? Does it have something to do with being initially Unintentionally Sympathetic (during test-screenings)? I thought C Ms cannot rely on ACI.
P.S. Now the whole thing's got me thinking: What role would Lotso serve to the film's main theme, whatever it is? An antithesis to the message? A cautionary tale of sorts? Some deconstruction? It is mentioned that Lotso is basically Woody gone bad.

Alternative Character Interpretation is an Audience Reaction. It does not depend upon In-Universe characterization.

Is it really an Even Better Sequel? I’ve seen several high profile critics call it weaker than 2 at the top of my head: Doug Walker, Schaffrilas Productions, LS Mark, and YMS are all such examples. The last two even put it below 1
