Re: Critical Research Failure: I put Wade's slip down to the fact that [[Series/Firefly]] wasn't aired during the 1980s, so not in his wheelhouse.
Hide / Show RepliesNoting that it got (re)pulled with the reason He didn't refer to "The" as part of the title of the ship.
- Critical Research Failure: It's an insignificant detail, but Wade refers to starship from Firefly as The Serenity. As any fan of the series would know (especially the kind of superfan who would make a Firefly-class vessel his Signature Team Transport), it's very explicitly just Serenity. Adding the "The" is a Berserk Button both in the show and in real life.
That reasoning is irrelevant. It's no more accurate than, say, referring to Art3mis as "the Art3mis."

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Which is exactly why it's wrong... treating the ship's name like it's a ship's name like that is incorrect In-Universe (and specifically mentioned in the show and a Fandon Berserk Button out of universe. Calling it "the Serenity" makes it abundantly clear that Wade hasn't so much as seen the show.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Cool, I'll read it with some clarification to make that obvious.

It's in his wheelhouse enough for him to elect to make it his transport of choice.
Like if he saw someone else in a Firefly-class ship and said it's the same as the Serenity from Firefly, sure. But it's his ship. Every other form of transport he has is something done for aesthetic purposes so the idea that he'd have something from a show he doesn't care for is silly.

A better comparison might be Second Life's Linden Dollars or EVE's ISK, though neither of those have reached the level that OASIS credits did in the book.
Someone's once again erased the Lindsey Ellis entry, without leaving an edit reason. I don't want to edit war, but I'm going to ask for one here and restore it if it doesn't show up.
