I'm not sure if this would be a Lawyer-Friendly Cameo , Writing Around Trademarks , or some other trope entirely, but there's something I've noticed that I feel needs to be brought up regarding Ghostface.
So in his reveal trailer, the name "Scream" is nowhere to be found, and the copyright information at the bottom of the screen only mentions Fun World (the original makers of the Ghostface mask).
Based on this information, it can be easily assumed that, instead of approaching Dimension Films, the devs directly approached Fun World to use Ghostface in the game. Fun World owns the rights to the mask and the name "Ghostface", and the devs are able to make subtle references to the movies (such as wiping blood off the knife after stabbing someone, using a cell phone in his mori, etc.), but there are certain things they legally don't have access to, such as the original black robes (hence why he's wearing a leather outfit in game)
