Can we maybe add a more explicit description of how the tone and mechanics differ between the Dream and Vocation versions? It's nice to see an acknowledgement of the versions, but it'd be really helpful to present a clearer picture of what the difference between them actually is.
"City of Adventure: San Francisco" I looked at the latest copies of both lines but didn't see any references to San Francisco, even when I did a Ctrl+F search. Any idea where this is coming from?
Hide / Show Replies"Violent Glaswegian: Glasgow was the site of a major war between the Enlightened and Alhambra, and just about every Princess who was active there in the Nineties learned to draw upon Tempesta. Many such Princesses are every bit as psychotic as the Seraphic General's own champions."
Hey uh, can someone point me to the source for this?
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, this one's incorrect. The actual lore states this happened in Atlanta, Georgia. From the wiki
"In Atlanta, in the mid-90s, almost an entire generation of Radiant Princesses knew at least the basics of Tempesta. So hard-pressed were they by the Darkness and a major, well-organized Alhambran outpost that it became unofficial policy for elder Enlightened to guide each newcomer towards it, because the universal applicability and raw power of the Invocation in such circumstances was too much of a boon. That large numbers of Nobles in the city were driven towards extremism was viewed as an acceptable price, even if by the end, and the arson of the Alhambran Outpost, there were Enlightened just as callous as the worst of Storms, still officially among the Radiant."
Edited by StoneBasiliskThanks! No wonder I couldnt find it by seraching for glasgow in the source books <-<
The wiki says that the game was forked. What caused the schism?
Hide / Show RepliesLong story.
The short version is Hutzil got banned from RPG.net after a one too many arguments with Earth Scorpion (they were both badly behaved at times, but only Hutzil really crossed the line.)
As for what the arguments were about, there really were a lot of things. But I think at the final moments the big points were: Tears/Storms, Invocations and Charms.
For Tears/Storms Hutzil wanted to come up with two broadly applicable themes (Depression and anger respectively) and build the Antagonists as a direct portrayal of those themes. Earth Scorpion wanted to come up with realistic portrayals and believable backstories.
For Invocations Hutzil really didn't like the idea that you took mechanical penalties for not acting in certain ways. It's worth saying that the Invocations at the time Hutzil forked were very different to the ones we're currently using. Right now you can spend a Wisp to add your Invocation to a Charm roll. Back then each invocation had a list of keywords and you got extra dice for every keyword that applied to your action. From a valid point of view, you took penalties for acting outside
With the Charms Hutzil preferred the old system to the new one. Again, at the point he left there was a different system to the one we have now and it was quite bad. But his utter insistence that we should stick to the origonal system since the current one was best of all.
So in summery, I think Hutzil had good points but was chronically incapable of working with Earth Scorpion and that led to him being banned.
i have never played this game ever but my brain is like: "what if... for some reason... princesses of mirrors working together... willingly/or to preform the duties of the True Heirs" please just shoot me in the head and take me out of my misery rn
