I think the supplementary trope folder should be renamed necessary tropes since those are like, close to omnipresent in every CM seen. Or most of them like how not all MBs are chessmasters.

I'd say a "Necessary tropes" section for Complete Monster should only include It's All About Me, The Unapologetic, The Unfettered, and maybe Lack of Empathy (if you don't consider the Sadist to have a twisted form of empathy).
Either way, I've gone through with the merge now.
Edited by ShootingStar7X Otherwise known as SolemnStormcloud.Should That One Boss be moved to the "Tropes to avoid or be careful with" section? Some remarks that tropers have made on Lord Brevon suggest that a Complete Monster/That One Boss crossover may not be such a wise idea:
- On HateSink.Video Games: "And worst of all, he's by far one of the most difficult bosses in the game."
- On ThatOneBoss.Action: "[...]he's still far and away the hardest boss in the game, which especially doesn't help the fact that he's also the most despicable villain in an otherwise-lighthearted game as well."
I don't think That One Boss has any relation to CM tbh. How tough they physically are has no relation to how evil they are or how detestable. In fact, making them an annoying fight might add to the audience hating them, which is kinda the point.
I didn't expect a reply here so soon, but you put it perfectly, @Snowy66! That One Boss can stay in "Story-telling hints". Though, an "annoying fight" would be a Goddamned Boss, not That One Boss.
Otherwise known as SolemnStormcloud.Could we add a "Greats" and "Treat With Caution" to this?
Hide / Show RepliesI don't think so, unfortunately. We tried that and they were afraid that it would lead to an edit war.
They said no because with CM the trope is more straightforward than MB, you either are or you aren't. There aren't any near-misses or famous example you need to take cues from.
Now that there's a "Writing a good Complete Monster" section, does anyone else think we should merge the "Supplementary tropes" and "Story-telling hints" folders into one folder with the former's name, and rename the "Writing a good Complete Monster" header to "Story-telling hints" to match Write a Magnificent Bastard?
