A bit late, but: it's a relic from when that trope used to be called You Fail Biology Forever. I suspect someone was misusing a pothole.

Moving this from Hypocritical Humor:
- David Mitchell mocked Rob Brydon for suggesting that Doctor Who was real (see Daydream Believer, above), then one of his true facts in the same show was that he (as a child) had created a system of communicating with Captain Kirk during Star Trek.
It doesn't seem that hypocritical; there's a clear difference between a child demonstrating a blurred understanding of the lines between fantasy and reality and a grown adult doing so.
I'm not seeing why the claim that a dog was "half-dalmatian, half-greyhound" (under Epic Fail) is potholed to You Fail Biology Forever. Am I being stupid? They're both full breeds, so you could have a cross... right?
