Sounds like it's an example of Maligned Mixed Marriage, but I don't know enough about the series to rewrite the example to make it fit cleanly

What is with the severe color depth/saturation changes in the video between scenes? I can't tell if this is a Amazing Technicolor Index or the result of a small budget for post-processing.
